Did You Know...

... that there was also traffic from the United Kingdom to Ireland this year?

Winner at the UK Nationals: Fly Wild from Northern Ireland
posted Oct 11th, 2013 - The Sun Path Products NSL News has covered a few times this year how teams from Ireland and Northern Ireland crossed the Irish Sea to compete at meets in the United Kingdom, including the World Challenge indoor competition at Bodyflight Bedford.

Fly Wild from Northern Ireland even won the Rookie Class competition at the UK Nationals, as the story on 5 September 2013 reported. Teams from Ireland competed in each of the four categories at the World Challenge 2013.

However, there was also traffic going the opposite direction, from the United Kingdom to Ireland. UK team Cirrus competed at the Irish Nationals 2013 and took the 1st place in the A Class competition.

Winner at the Irish Nationals: Cirrus from the United Kingdom
Cirrus had competed at two of the UKSL meets in May (3.3) and July (5.7) before. The Irish Nationals was the last test that came a few weeks before the UK Nationals. Cirrus finished at both national championships with the team's best meet average (6.9) of the 2013 season.

Cirrus had started in the UK Rookie Class of 2012 (2.8 - 5.0 - 6.6) and moved up into the A Class with the beginning of the 2013 season. The 2013 lineup was eventually scoring higher at the end of this year's competition season than in the Rookie Class last year.

Irish team Taranis, AA Class winner at the Irish Nationals, had attended the World Challenge in April and then the three UKSL meets before winning the national gold medals in August without any other teams in this category.

Still with the Fun Flag: Fast Air from Ireland in Dubai
AAA Class team Celtic Air had also competed on UK turf earlier this year at the World Challenge before ending up in 2nd place at the national championships. Winner and defending national champion of 2012, Fast Air, had a slower 2013 season with only one competition.

Ireland's national team attended four meets in 2011, including Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship and World Challenge, and won the national championships for the second time. Fast Air came back in 2012 and competed at three meets, including the World Challenge, before traveling to Dubai for the Mondial 2012.

The Irish national team caught the Sun Path Products NSL News attention in Dubai when the Danish Divas battled the military team to take away the Fun Flag after the landing from a competition jump. Fast Air was not too serious in defending the Fun Flag...
