Did You Know...

... that Spaceland Force XP won the team's first round?

posted Mar 21st, 2009 - The NSL News mentioned yesterday already that Spaceland Force XP showed teeth in Round 3. The 28-pointer was still two points behind Airspeed Odyssey though. Today's Round 6 brought the first highscore for the new lineup.

Airspeed Odyssey had 30 points in time, as well, but lost one in the judging room. However, Spaceland Force XP even completed 31 points within working time and still won the round after a 1-point deduction. Visitor Steve Boyd, who sits in front of the DZ-TV screen most of the time, was proud of his team and his son Eric who is filming the Space Force.

Other visitors came just to watch the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2009, as well. Ron Hill has been in several strong 4-way lineups in Florida and now lives and works in Texas. Annie Petersen, former Arizona Divewerkz member who recently joined the new lineup of the US national team in the female category, visited from Tucson, Arizona, to watch the world-class competition.

The videos of Round 6 can now be viewed, and Round 7 is almost complete. Here is the penalty breakdown for Round 6: Voluntas -1, Cross Road -4, Airspeed Odyssey -1, Perris Fury -2, Sebastian Tempest -5, Spaceland Force XP -1, Disaster -1.

The scores of Round 5 have been added, and the videos of Round 4 have been replaced by the new ones of Round 5. A page will all meet videos will be added later. There will also be a DVD to come after the event with a higher quality level.

The scoreboard in DeLand continues to be splattered with red ink due to a higher number of penalties than ever before. Here are the details of the damage for Round 5: Aerokart Deep Blue -1, France Maubeuge -1, Gradient Alpha -5, Sebastian Tempest -1, Spaceland Force XP -2. MD Fooza lost one point in Round 1, two points in Round 2 and five points in Round 3. Teiwaz lost three points in Round 3.

The Skins Game now begins after the completion of Round 5. The teams will receive their handicaps, and each round will have a cash prize for the winner in the AAA Class. Round 6 is sponsored by Sky Systems, the winner after handicap will receive $150 cash. Business owner Doug Park, former DeLand Majik 4-way world champion is on competition site to observe the competition action.

NSL-TV picks up the pace on Saturday morning

NSL-TV picks up the pace now on Saturday morning. The scores for Round 4 are coming together with almost all videos of the competition jumsp.

Going back to yesterday's first three rounds, the CamScore sheets show that France Maubeuge had two point deductions in Round 3. Airspeed Odyssey's highscore of 30 points was also after a 1-point deduction. In fact, the event judges in DeLand, Judy Celaya, Rina Gallo and Eric Heinsheimer, put many marks on the scoresheets.

Their sharp eyes detect everything that is questionable, and the 70% viewing makes it a lot easier to get closer to the truth. IPC FS Committee advisor Dr. Rainer "Exi" Hoenle visited yesterday and commented the 70% viewings briefly:

"They are surely detecting more infringements, and there are more point deductions."

The NSL News will follow up with more comments and proper evaluation. The results will be reported to the IPC FS Committee.

Two more AAA Class teams joined the competition this morning and are busy catching up with the other teams. The Teiwaz lineup includes another IPC official, Deputy Chair Trude Sviggum from Norway, who competed with the Norwegian national team in the female category, Fortitudo, at the World Meet 2008.
