Round 9 was another penalty heavy round, as the whole meet revealed many more infringements than usual. Here is the breakdown for Round 9: Airspeed Odyssey -1, France Maubeuge -1, Spaceland Force XP -2, Perris Fury -1, Aerokart Deep Blue -1, Voluntas -2, Gradient Alpha -1, Teiwaz -1.
NRG from the Netherlands is the hottest candidate for the $300 cash for Round 9, sponsored by United Parachute Technologies, maker of the Micron. A clean round gave the Dutch team the highest score after handicap. However, The final results will be announced after MD Fouza finishes the remaining rounds tomorrow.
Round 10 did not turn out well for Airspeed Odyssey. Craig Girard was sad when the Airspeed score was reduced from 25 to 22 points: "We never win a round in the Skins Game..." That is true this time, however, there is still a jackpot of $1,000 cash for the overall winner in the AAA Class, sponsored by Skydive DeLand, Skydive Spaceland and Bud Light. Airspeed Odyssey was still three points ahead of France Maubeuge, even after losing four points in the last round.
This is the end of the day, the missing rounds will be completed tomorrow morning. The last videos of Round 10 will be posted as soon as the meet is completed, and the winners of the Skins Game will be announced at the same time.
It is already a fact that the meet will not be completed today. Two teams have decided to finish tomorrow, as it was originally scheduled. Several teams will be done tonight, and others will have to come back in the morning, too.
$300 were on the stake for Round 8. Mark Mathias, owner of the local DeLand Center for Aesthetical Dentistry, is sponsoring this round. He encourages visiting US and international skydivers to schedule an appointment with him at the next training camp in DeLand.
Spaceland Force XP is currently winning the money once again, as the team from Texas tied the highest scores of the round with a 23-pointer. Airspeed Odyssey and France Maubeuge posted 23-pointers, as well. The Space Force has won or tied the highscores for the last three rounds and is on a roll.
However, the results of the Skins Game are only official after all teams have completed the same round. MD Fooza still has to do Round 8 tomorrow morning, and Fooza has serious chances to challenge Spaceland for the money. Round 9 is almost complete, stay tuned for more.
It seems as if the complete 10-round meet will be completed today. All teams agreed to try to wrap it up today and have a day off on Sunday. There is still enough day time left, and the weather cooperates on a windy day.
Spaceland Force XP repeated in Round 7 what had already happened in Round 6. Shannon Pilcher, Ian Bobo, Thomas Hughes, Gary Beyer and Eric Boyd (Camera) scored another sole highscore and beat Airspeed by a point. Airspeed suffered another point deduction in Round 7. France Maubeuge lost two points.
Skydive DeLand also sponsored the same round with two free team jumps for the winner of Round 7. The Texas team will probably not be able to use this prize, as Skydive Spaceland is the team's home dropzone.
Airspeed Odyssey can afford the charge of the Spaceland team at the moment. The reigning world champions are far ahead of France Maubeuge and the rest of the field. Spaceland Force XP has already moved the battle a notch and a slot up though. Perris Fury cannot keep up today and is already five points behind the Space Force. The Spaceland team has now taken on the French national team for the 2nd place. There is only a 1-point difference left. Stay tuned for Round 8 to come.
