posted Dec 27th, 2013 - The winter season used to be naturally the time when teams and competitors either hibernate or do homework to prepare for the next outdoor competition season. More ambitious teams in the western hemisphere have also traveled to skydiving centers located in a climate that allows skydiving at winter times.

The winter hibernation has changed for many teams, competitors and skydivers since an ever increasing number of wind tunnels have offered indoor training opportunities when the weather does not allow jumping from a plane in acceptable and bearable conditions.

Indoor training will never be able to replace competition training, as exit and the subterminal part of the working time are still, and will always be, the most important part of the 35 or 50 seconds in competition. It's the most crucial time when a competition jump becomes a good one - or not.

However, the winter season, with or without a training camp at a warmer place, was still a painfully long time period for skydivers, and the wind tunnels have made it much easier to survive the outdoor hibernation. In fact, many teams, competitors and skydivers use the indoor training tool even throughout the whole year. The Indoor Cloud League activities have become one part of the 12-month skydiving schedule.

The Czech Republic is even a step further and beyond the monthly ICL competition and the training for it. Jan Klapka has been running the usual outdoor competition season of the Czech Republic Skydiving League, as he has done it for many years. In addition, there have also been monthly indoor meets during the winter season since the winter of 2011/2012 at the Sportsflight Skydive Arena in Prague.

The winter season of 2013/2014 is in full swing by now, after the first two meets in November and December.

The Indoor Cloud League is running with the calendar year, and the last month of the 2013 season is slowly coming to its end. The Czech Republic has also taken a very strong position in this competitive indoor environment. The Czech group at the Sportsflight Skydive Arena is holding the first place at the moment with a very competitive total of 130 points for the six categories.

Most of the Czech ICL scores are posted by teams of the Czech Republic Skydiving League, who also participate in the outdoor or indoor meets. Jan Klapka is encouraging teams to provide videos and scores for his group and recently added a new motivational tool to his activities. He keeps track of each team's ICL points, and the Skydive Arena will reward the best contributions to the Czech total number of ICL points per year.

The ICL award ceremony is scheduled for January 16th, the date of the next indoor competition. The best contributors per category will receive prizes and medals. Bad Boyz (AAA) collected a total of 143 points for the Czech Republic in 2013. CZ Ladies (AA), Best of Relative (A and Rookie AAA), Drop-ky (Rookie AA) and SDA Chicks (Rookie A) are the other best Czech point collectors.
