Did You Know...

... that Martial Ferre was filming the last Fun Flag takeover in Dubai?

Danish Divas with the Fun Flag
posted Jan 3rd, 2013 - The NSL News reported on 4 December 2012 that the Fun Flag was in Danish possession. It was the latest Fun Flag update from the Mondial Dubai 2012.

The photo that came with the update was showing the three Danish Divas members in a Fun Flag photo op. The scenerie was similar to the one that Perris Wicked and Bodyflight Aerodyne members used to feature the Fun Flag at the World Challenge 2012.

Veloce filmmaker Martial Ferre, French 4way world champion of 1999 and 8way word champion of 2010, later provided the NSL News with video footage that he captured when the Danish Divas took the Fun Flag away from the Irish national 4way team Fast Air.

Fast Air from Ireland with the Fun Flag
Colin Curran was flying the Fun Flag for Fast Air under his open parachute over Dubai after a competition jump, and the Danish Divas must have known about it. They were waiting at the landing area for the right moment of a surprise attack after Colin Curran's landing. Martial Ferre was there with his camera turned on.

There was not too much resistance, even though the members of Ireland's military services would surely know how to set up a stronger defence. The Fun Flag ended up in Danish possession.

Martial Ferre then tried to instigate a French takeover by explaining to the members of Monaco's Rebootizer Aerial team how meaningful the possession of the Fun Flag is. He could not convince the French competition veterans to go out of their way after the competition jump and engage in a battle with the Danish Divas who were carefully securing the Fun Flag at the same time.

Unusual red jump suits: Danish Divas
It was an interesting coincidence that both teams involved in this Fun Flag story were also very close to each other in the 4way competition, even though they competed in different categories. Fast Air had the stronger start and won the two first rounds. The Danish Divas then outscored the Irish team in the next six rounds and were five points ahead of Fast Air who were done after Round 8 and the cuts in the Open Class.

The Danish Divas continued to finish with the best performance in the team's competition career, which brought them into the finals in the female 4way category after a very intense 1-point battle with Fire from Sweden and China and Australia who were two points behind Danish Divas after Round 9.

The second video is showing the Danish Divas in the beautiful red colored jump suits over Dubai. There are not many teams these days who are not using dark colors for their competition suits. It was the other team in red who did not take on the battle for the Fun Flag in Martial Ferre's video. The red meeting in the landing area, the Divas without their jump suits though, was another coincidence.
