Did You Know...

... that a new NSL-TV video features Round 1 of six top teams?

Brian "BK" Krause flies with a broken hand, here with Matt Davidson and Andy Honigbaum
posted Apr 4th, 2009 - The new NSL-TV video features the top teams of the World Challenge 2009 performing Round 1. It can be viewed by clicking here.

It was a lucky stretch for the NSL-TV camera. The random draw of the jump order brought six of the top teams into the tunnel next to each other. GKXP opened this cycle with a 22-pointer and the second place after Round 1. Golden Knight Brian "BK" Krause flies with a broken hand, as he injured it during 8-way training in the windtunnel.

XL was next and finished with a 21-pointer after a glitch. Arcteryx Nice with the French guest followed with a 20-pointer before Airspeed came into the chamber to score the 23-point highscore of the round. Hayabusa Defence posted another 22-pointer, and Perris Fury completed this tunnel session of world class teams, also with a 22-pointer. All these teams can be watched up close and personal on this new video.

It was still not the end of this video. Team Future was on its way into the flying chamber, just when the NSL-TV camera followed Perris Fury to the exit. The filming session was extended, and Team Future can now be viewed performing Round 1, as well.

There is more to come, as the next station on this trip around Bodyflight Bedford went downstairs to the ground level and the viewing area. There the NSL-TV camera continued to capture some footage of the actual judging videos. This video will be posted next. More AA Class scores will be posted even earlier. Stay tuned.

Kaktus Hunter was the first team for Round 1

The next NSL-TV video has already been uploaded, and it features the very beginning of the World Challenge 2009.

The NSL-TV camera was ready when the first two teams entered the flying chamber. The Russian team Kaktus Hunter had the honor to lead the 47-team field into the first round of the competition. The Pro Team from Finland followed Kaktus Hunter, and the video of both performances is also a part of this new NSL-TV video.

In the meantime, Round 2 has already been completed and judged for the AA Class teams. Team Future extended the lead significantly and is already miles away from the rest of the field. The Tinucci siblings will now switch gear and get ready for the Freeflying competition where Round 1 is on the agenda.

The judges are working on the AAA Class scores for Round 2, while the teams continue to prepare for the next rounds. The scores for Round 2 will be posted as soon as they are complete. NSL-TV videos of Round 1 will be next. Stay tuned.

Airspeed and Team Future have the lead after Round 1

Round 1 is complete, and the first scores are posted. Anything new? Not really, Airspeed is on the top of the leaderboard...

It was a slow sequence and the opportunity for everybody to stay close to the reigning 4-way world champions. It is only a 1-point difference, however, Airspeed posted the sole highscore, and it is just another statement, at the very beginning of the meet this time.

Last year, Airspeed was behind XL after the first round. The field is even stronger this year, and Airspeed is already on the top.

It was still only the first round, and there are nine more to come. Round 2 is almost completed already. The NSL News captured plenty of footage of Round 1, which will be edited and uploaded soon.

AA Class leader after Round 1: Justin Tinucci
First of all, another interview with Joey Jones is already on the server and can be reviewed by clicking here. The Hayabusa and Evolution coach commented the situation before the teams went into the chamber for Round 1.

The interview took place in the hangar where the teams prepare for their next round and which also serves as the most popular viewing area. It is a noisy environment with all the activities nearby, however, the audio quality of the video is still very good.

By the way: a quick look at the AA Class leaderboard shows that Team Future is really much better prepared for their 4-way performance than ever before. Rusty Lewis' work shows already great results. Team Future leads by two points after one round. Stay tuned.
