Did You Know...

... that 4-way teams from Z-Hills create momentum in Florida?

DiZturbia at the FSL April meet
posted Apr 24th, 2009 - Rounds five and six of the FSL April meet wrap up the NSL-TV coverage of the event. All competition jumps are now available for reviews on YouTube, as the videos are embedded in the related meet stories.

The April meet was the first competition for the new DiZturbia lineup from Skydive City in Z-Hills that the NSL News already introduced with the story on 15 April 2009. DiZturbia enjoyed the meet in DeLand despite the challenges of the AAA Class dive pool, as Center Inside Laura Song explained:

"The DiZturbia girls hustled straight from the landing area to the Perfect Spot right after Round 6 and a fun meet! It's great to have a baseline and know what we're working with."

DiZturbia engineering in DeLand
She added that her team's coach, James "Bu" Klinge, and 4-way veteran Robert Chromy were both amused by some of DiZturbia's engineering, as the team tried to find ways to avoid the new memory challenge:

"We are at the do-anything-to-get-out-of-the-double-slot-switcher phase... We learned a tremendous amount, like we need to devote some time to B slot training, and we saw a lot of new things. It's challenging moving up to big boys dive pool!"

DiZturbia will come back for the next FSL meet in June. The team has a windtunnel training camp in Raeford coming up at the beginning of May, with three hours of flying time. The next outdoor training in Z-Hills is scheduled for the Memorial Day weekend, with training on Saturday and Monday and participation in the 7th annual 4-way Scrambles Meet on Sunday.

Team DiZaster at the Shamrock Showdown
DiZturbia had company from Skydive City. Rookie Class team DiZaster made the trip to DeLand already the second time this year. Jonathan Bojar, Quinn Lamb, Tim Neaves and Bonnie Young had already attended the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2009 and seem to be addicted to 4-way competition after two meets.

The results make it easy to understand why Team DiZaster is enjoying the competition so much. The Rookie Class team posted a 5.1 average in March and is already at a 7.0 average level one month later. The 11-pointer in Round 3 is a new team record for a single round and beats the previous 10-pointer in March.

It will not take very long until the Z-Hills team will arrive at the 10-point average level. The NSL YouTube TV videos show that Team DiZaster had serious exit problems round after round. It was impressive to see how qickly the often scrambled team members recovered and still put great numbers on the scoreboard.

Team DiZaster at the FSL April meet
Team DiZaster gets help from Teiwaz member Karl Meyer and has the FSL May meet at Skydive Sebastian on the team calendar, as well. It seems like the Rookie Class team plans to set a new participation record this year. The scores will most likely go up accordingly, as soon as the exits get better.

This weekend, the Z-Hills team will probably have its eyes on the season opener of the Carolina Skydiving League, the nations's and maybe the world's breeding ground of new 4-way lineups. The CASL teams are competing at Skydive Carolina tomorrow, while teams in Southern California travel to Skydive Elsinore. The new scores will be posted as soon as possible.
