Did You Know...

... that Czech teams competed once again at Bodyflight Bedford?

posted Apr 28th, 2009 - Last weekend's scores of the two meets in California and Carolina are posted, and the leaderboard is complete. More information will follow soon with the meet stories.

Teams competed in three competition classes. The Southern California Skydiving League won the AAA Class (Elsinore BTE) and the Rookie Class (PACK'D), while Carolina Ice took the 1st place in the 9-team AA Class competition.

The NSL News now goes back to an event that has not been brought to the attention of the audience yet.

Teams from the Czech Republic opened their 2009 season with an indoor competition at Bodyflight Bedford, the 2nd Annual Indoor Championship.

Czech league manager Jan Klapka announced already last year that he would introduce the AA Class to his teams in the Czech Republic in 2009. He tested the new competition class for Czech teams for the first time at the tunnel meet, and two teams selected this category for their competition.

There were no teams competing in the A Class in Bedford this month. However, all four competition classes will be available for the Czech teams at the meets of the regular 2009 season.

PB Fire and All 41
The national 4-way champions of 2009, Skyservice, are now competing under a new teams name.

The Skywalkers (Jirí Jirman - Point, Jan Lukavec - Center Inside, Štepán Tuma - Tail, Zbynek Živný - Center Outside) had much more work this year to hold off the Bad Boyz (Jan Klapka - Tail, Václav Prokeš - Point, Jaroslav Smitka - Center Outside, Juraj Sonlajtner - Center Inside) and won by two points.

PB Fire (Jaroslav Hrstka - Center Outside, Veronika Hrstkova - Tail, Karel Kott, Jirí Moro - Center Inside, Jan Petrícek - Point), with a new team member in the Tail slot, dominated the duel with All 41 in the new AA Class competition.

All 41 Ladies and Fast Arrows
All 41 had a new team member, as well, as Arcteryx member Ditta Valsdottir filled the open slot for Jan Rab who died in a landing accident two weeks before the competition in Bedford. It is unknown whether the Norwegian world class competitor matches the criteria of the team name.

All 41 now also has an all-female lineup. Anna Ahenova (Point), Monika Bunesova (Center Outside), Klara Eliasova (Tail) and Marcela Hejna (Center Inside) competed in the Rookie Class and gave Fast Arrows the tightest race possible in the team's first competition. Both teams ended up tied in 1st place with a 12.0 average.

Fast Arrows already competed at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2009 and the World Challenge 2009 this year, both times in the AA Class. Jan Klapka reported that the Fast Arrows Rookie Class lineup for the indoor competition in Bedford was completed two hours before the competition began.

FAI World Cup 2009 in Prostejov
Fast Arrows' Outside Center in Bedford, Pepa Stolin, made his first 4-ways with the team and attended his first competition. The Fast Arrows lineup included another prominent 4-way competitor. XL and Sinapsi member Steve Hamilton guided the Rookie Class team through the meet as a player coach in his home tunnel.

The first of four outdoor competitions in the Czech Republic this year is scheduled for the May 23 weekend. The national championship is at the beginning of August. The Czech Republic also hosts this year's FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving at the beginning of September in Prostejov.
