Did You Know...

... that Mr. and Mrs. Head competed for the first time in the AAA Class?

NSL Wall on Facebook
posted May 29th, 2009 - The next meet weekend is already coming up, while the NSL News is still trying to catch up with the events of last weekend. The new record number of 86 teams beats the previous NSL highscore of 84 teams on the leaderboard, which was posted on the June 21 weekend last year.

The weather was a well contributing factor last weekend. It is actually quite amazing that each of the nine events in the USA and Europe completed all scheduled rounds. The Rookie Class teams of the Carolina Skydiving League have only four rounds on their meet agenda. All other teams completed six rounds, except the French teams who go through eight rounds at their Coupe de France meets.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate just as well this weekend, as the next three leagues are launching their new competition season in Denmark, Texas and Virginia. There is great anticipation of the new season in Texas, as one of the new TSL competitors expressed on Facebook's NSL Group Wall. The first meet will hosted by Skydive Spaceland, home of Spaceland Force XP and Spaceland Blue and also of the USPA Nationals 2009.

Phobia at the first UKSL meet
The NSL News now goes back to the previous meet weekend and begins with the coverage of the first United Kingdom Skydiving League (UKSL) competition of the 2009 season. It was another great season opener, which tied the UK record number of 22 teams in May last year. However, this time the UK teams completed all six rounds, while there were only four complete rounds in 2008.

NSL YouTube TV has already uploaded the six rounds of the winner in the AAA Class, Phobia, who also finished in 3rd place of all 31 AAA Class teams last weekend. Only the Monaco Parachute Team from France and GXT from Italy were ahead of Phobia after six rounds.

The NSL News had already introduced Phobia earlier as a new team in the AAA Class. Last weekend's results must have been very satisfying to the British team. Laura Head (Center Inside), Richard Head (Center Outside), Kate Morris (Tail), Graham Wilkins (Point), with Geoff Fritz on camera, were planning to get familiar with the AAA Class dive pool this year and then attend the FAI World Cup 2009 with a respectable result.

Moved up as well: Fend 4 Yourself
Phobia's ten rounds at the World Challenge 2009 were already featured with the NSL News story on 20 May 2009. The new videos show the team's performance in freefall last weekend.

Two of the Phobia members have gone even a step further with their commitment last month. Laura and Richard Head got married last month and competed as Mr. and Mrs. Head at the first competition this year.

Fend 4 Yourself has moved up from the AA Class last year to the AAA Class in 2009, as well, and finished in 2nd place of the first UKSL competition. The NSL News will come back to the other competition classes very soon.
