Did You Know...

... that the Indoor Cloud League scores for January are closer than ever?

NWSL group at one of the iFLY Seattle flying sessions
posted Jan 31st, 2014 - The Florida Skydiving League group at iFLY Orlando just improved their total score for the Indoor Cloud League sequences of January 2014 significantly on Wednesday night and still could not catch up with the Czech group at the Skydive Arena. It became even worse for Florida when the scores from iFLY Seattle came in a day later, as Deb Correia's Northwest Skydiving League group tied the highest total score for the 1st place in January.

It's a completely new situation in the Indoor Cloud League competition where the teams from iFLY Orlando and iFLY Seattle started with a duel. Even when other indoor groups joined the new competition project Florida and Northwest maintained their top spots and the monthly duel for the highest number of total points.

The Indoor Cloud League has become more competitive, and Florida finds herself in 3rd place for the first time in the league history. The scores for the month of January are also closer than ever before, and there has never been a tie for the 1st place in any monthly competition yet. Florida's 125 points would have been good enough to win several times last year.

AAA and AA Class lineups with NWSL coaches
Florida's archrivals from iFLY Seattle had scheduled two flying sessions, just as the iFLY Orlando group did in January. The first one took place on January 7th and the second one on January 23rd. Deb Correia said that both sessions were sold out.

The Joe's, an NWSL 4way team of 2013, flew a couple of the sequences on their own and submitted the top score for iFLY Seattle in the A Class. Bill Selig and Sue Stangl filled slots for last-minute cancellations in both sessions.

Coaches Dave Correia, Jeff Smith and David Zhang provided the scores for the AAA and the AA Class sequences at both sessions, one with Carolyn Chow in the lineup, the other one with Deb Correia. The complete lineups were: Agata Staniak - Babs Selig - Deb Correia - David Zhang (Rookie A); Daisy Thompson - Erin Wenzel - Nancy McFadden - Deb Correia (Rookie AA and Rookie AAA); Djordje Mandaric - Denis Pershakov - Andrew Gaiovyi - Jeff Smith (The Joe's in the A Class); Deb Correia - Dave Correia - Jeff Smith - David Zhang (AAA and AA Class).

Deb Correia said that she had a couple of new participants this month, Mohamed Abou-Gindia and Paul Stoddard, who both flew in the Rookie Class categories. She also reported that there is a growing number of participants who are coming back month by month:

"We are starting to get some consistency in our group, so we hope to see our scores climbing from here. We're also seeing enthusiasm from the newer crop of jumpers and will be working hard the next few months to recruit some new fliers."

This is not great news for Florida at iFLY Orlando, who have more work keeping up with the Northwest group. The scores from the Northern California Skydiving League at iFLY SF Bay are still to come, and SkyVenture Montreal had additional scores and videos in preparation, as well. The month of January is almost over, and the new sequences for February will be posted very soon.
