Did You Know...

... that Golden Knights and Aerodyne French Girls had their first indoor confrontation at Paraclete?

Golden Knights with fans after the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2014
posted Mar 3rd, 2014 - NMP-PCH Hayabusa's record performance on the top of the leaderboard and the exciting battle for the other medal and cash slots were in the center of the attention during the live coverage of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2014.

There were many other great highlights and team record performances, as the skills level of all teams increases year by year. The Sun Path Products NSL News will catch up later with as many of those topics as possible. The first topic is the competition between Golden Knights and Aerodyne French Girls in 4way Women, which took place without a separate leaderboard.

It was one of the several battles within the competition that will be repeated on the upcoming weekend at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2014. It will provide a very similar preview of the World Meet in Prostejov this year as in the other competition categories.

The results at the outdoor competition will tell more about the current situation between the two top contenders in 4way Women than the indoor results last weekend. However, the indoor scores at least indicate what can be expected when the teams exit from real jump planes.

Both national teams, Aerodyne French Girls for France and Golden Knights for USA, did extremely well at Paraclete XP. The Golden Knights attended their first and only indoor competition at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2012 where they finished with a 21.1 average. The 24.1 average last weekend speaks for itself.

The Aerodyne French Girls had posted a 22.5 average at the Aerokart Indoor Championship 2013 in the team's first year. Then they launched the 2014 season with a 23.7 average at the Wind Games 2014 and now followed up with a 25.2 average in Raeford.

Golden Knights at the World Cup 2011
Aerodyne French Girls and Golden Knights have known each other from several outdoor competitions since 2011. The complete Golden Knights lineup met two French team members, Perrine Sanchez and Laurence Herve, the first time at the World Cup in Germany where they competed for the Deep Blue Defenders.

A year later, they met again at the World Cup in Prostejov before Laurence Herve broke her ankle and had to sit out at the Mondial Dubai 2012. Sophie Deremaux filled the slot and helped to win the gold medals for France in December 2012.

The World Cup 2013 brought both teams together for the first time with their current lineups, and the story of the exciting competition, including jump-off round and tie-breaking procedure, is well known. This battle even made more history, as the rules for the tie-breaking procedure are now being adjusted by the IPC.

Yet there had not been a direct indoor confrontation between the Golden Knights and any of the changing French national lineups in the female 4way category before the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2014. France won, and the outdoor battle is following this weekend in DeLand.

The 24.1 average of the Golden Knights is impressive enough after the 21.1 indoor average of 2012. However, the French 25.2 average becomes even heavier after comparing it to the results of the Wind Games in January. NMP-PCH Hayabusa (31.4) and Arizona Airspeed (30.5) both scored higher in January, while the Aerodyne French Girls beat their own average (23.7 - 25.2) by over a point.

It was only a warmup event for both teams, and the first real showdown is coming up this weekend. Then they have four months to work with the experiences and try to change the outcome - or not. The winner of the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championships is traditionally the new world champion...
