Did You Know...

... that a mystery team from China dominated the AA Class competition on May 23?

PACK'D at the first SCSL meet
posted Jun 8th, 2009 - The NSL News goes back to the record meet weekend on May 23 - 24 where a total of 86 teams had their scores posted on the NSL leaderboard.

Seven teams of the Southern California Skydiving League competed in three different competition classes that weekend in Perris. Only the Rookie Class did not have any participation at all this time. The only SCSL Rookie Class team at the first meet in Elsinore, PACK'D, followed through with the team's plan to move up into the A Class at the next meet.

PACK'D, with Katie Chvistek (Tail), Aniz Rasslan Filho (Point), Padu Merloti (Center Inside), Chris Starsky (Center Outside) and Donald Humphries (Camera) in the lineup, has one more step coming up, as the team plans to compete in the AA/Intermediate Class at the USPA Nationals 2009.

Perris Jimani lineup at SkyQuest 2008
The 9.2 average at the first SCSL meet this year in the Rookie Class turned into a 6.3 average in the A Class on May 23 and was already good enough to finish in 5th place of 15 teams in this category.

Perris Jimani finished in 6th place of 24 teams in the AA Class and lifted the 8.3 average at the April meet to 10.7 in Perris. It was the highest meet average for Jimani since June 2007 when Jim Earman and a player coach lineup with Perris Fury members broke the 10.0 benchmark for the first time in a 6-round meet.

The 12.6 average at the NSL Championship 2008 was a special lineup with only Jim Earman as an original Jimani member. Nick Grillet, Hannah Bates and Rusty Lewis had filled the other slots in DeLand in November last year.

Jimani scores 2007 - 2009
Jimani's 10.7 average was still not enough to win the AA Class competition in Perris. A team from China did not only take the first place on Jimani's home turf. China also finished in the top spot of the AA Class leaderboard that weekend with a 14.0 meet average after six rounds. The NSL News is trying to get more information of the guest team from China.

The Southern California Skydiving League now goes back to Elsinore on July 11.
