posted May 13th, 2014 - The season opener of the Southern California Skydiving League was seriously bothered by bad weather, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported yesterday.

The Carolina Skydiving League followed up a week later and was not much luckier. Carolina Turbo XP hosted the meet on their home turf at Skydive Carolina in Chester, and Andrew Happick had similar weather news as Christy Frikken reported from Perris:

"Saturday started with a slight weather delay due to low clouds. We then started jumping and had all three teams on the same Caravan loads. After three rounds of competition, Caravan load 12 went on a weather hold. The storm clouds came, and heavy rain moved in."

That was the end of the meet day in Chester at around 4:30 pm. The awards ceremony took place much earlier than expected and within the cover of the hangar. Carolina Dynamic then completed one more competition round on Sunday.

AA Class team Carolina Dynamic has come back with the same lineup as in 2013 for the team's 3rd year. The 10.3 average is a promising start into the 2014 season. Dynamic broke the 10-average level for the first time at the USPA Nationals 2013 (10.9) and now launched the new competition season on the 2-digit level.

Carolina Dynamic was in USPA Intermediate Class medal contention last year and missed the bronze medal position only by two points. There is no doubt that Dynamic will be very competitive once again.

Andrew Happick said that 1st place team in the Rookie Class, Carolina McThuggetz, comprised of Skydive Carolina locals who plan to compete in future CaSL meets, as well. The least experienced member of this team was Shelby Hammond (Point), who only had 30 jumps at the start of the meet. Her team finished with an impressive 5.3 average.

The team in 2nd place, Dock Dock Goose, is from Virginia Tech and plans to compete with the same line up at the next USPA Collegiates. Two team members also attended their first competition last weekend. Virginia Tech is the place where the whole Carolina Turbo XP story began...

The next CaSL meet will take place at the Raeford Parachute Center on June 14th. The Triangle Skydiving Center is hosting the 3rd meet on July 12th, and Skydive Carolina concludes the 2014 season on August 16th. Paraclete XP is sponsoring the team with the most first place finishes in any category with up to an hour of tunnel time.
