Did You Know...

... that three XXXXO members had a reunion at the NCSL season opener?

AA Class winner: Elsinore Horizon

posted May 16th, 2014 - The meet weekend of April 26 was the 2014 season opener for both the Northern and Southern California Skydiving League.

It was also the first time this year that the synchronized competition draw was applied at different locations, as it has become a popular procedure over the years.

It was coincidence that both Californian leagues competed on the same weekend, as the meets are scheduled separately and independently by each participating league.

Meet locations were Lodi and Perris, over 400 miles away from each other, and the weather was very different at both places.

The teams in Perris struggled to get in the air at all, while the meet was almost completed by all teams in Lodi.

Teams mixed up in three of the four categories. Only the Rookie Class teams of the Northern California Skydiving League had no indirect competition in Perris.

The Indoor Cloud League coaches of the Northern California Skydiving League with XXXXO had no problem outscoring Christy Frikken's FunkyTown Monkey Pimps lineup in the AAA Class, while SCSL team Elsinore Horizon easily won the AA Class competition.

Three of the XXXXO members knew each other well from the 2008 season. Rob Radez, Deanna Frank and Julius Frank won the AA/Intermediate Class competition of the USPA Nationals 2008 with Jon Martens in the lineup.

Jason Imamura was on camera for R4. Rob Radez later became the Center Inside for SDC Rhythm XP.

Former Vibe member Don Burnette was the Center Outside for XXXXO at the NCSL April meet.

The competition draw created an overlapping situation of the AA and A Class sequences (J,B,7) for Round 1. Seven teams actually performed the same sequence, and one A Class team broke out of the scoring and placement order.

Counterpoint FX's 8-pointer won Round 1 in the A Class and was the third highest score in the AA Class at the same time.

Counterpoint FX was also on the top of the combined A Class leaderboard, even though Team Steve One had a higher average after the only round in Perris.

The competition draw had more overlapping situations (Round 5 in A Class and Rookie, Round 6 in AA and A Class), which always create an interesting comparison between the dfferent categories.

The upcoming weekend brings several more teams together for a bigger leaderboard - as long as the weather cooperates...
