Did You Know...

... that Brian Touhey has come back strongly and with a lot of flying fun?

posted Jun 4th, 2014 - The Indoor Cloud League had the next new record participation for the May sequences, as five groups submitted scores and videos for all six sequences and one group missed only a score for one category. A total of 35 videos now feature the May sequences.

One person had a crucial part in the new record participation. Group organizer at SkyVenture New Hampshire, Brian Touhey, had to take a long break after a shoulder surgery at the beginning of the year. He did not only have to stay away from the Indoor Cloud League activities - he also missed the Indoor Skyfest at SkyVenture New Hampshire in January.

SkyVenture New Hampshire posted three ICL scores for January and two for February before it went completely dark for two months.

Brian Touhey now came back in full strength and with a very interesting start. He recruited a Rookie Class lineup last month (Andy Costanza, Jill Lavachia, Sam Corner, Brian Touhey) and guided it through all six sequences for the month of May.

He said that the shoulder surgery went well: "I am healing up quite nicely. The shoulder is still weak, but strong enough to fly." He had to fly a lot...

His 4way rookies collected a total of 58 points and had to perform even the slot switcher of the AAA Class sequence. He also did not make it easy for his team mates of the day, as the point deductions are showing. However, the new competitors had a great time: "We didn't score high, but we had fun doing it."

Brian Touhey's lineup at SkyVenture New Hampshire even managed to outscore three other Rookie AA Class lineups with the 16-pointer. In fact, only the four point deductions kept him from placing 2nd in this category.

It was similar in the Rookie AAA Class where Brian Touhey deducted another four points from the 14 completed points in the 35-second working time. His lineup would have outscored the Rookie AAA Class lineups from iFLY Dallas and iFLY SF Bay. The AAA/AA/A Class experts of the other groups did not leave the New England rookies much of a chance to stay close in the other three categories.

Brian Touhey will now begin to get the groups back together who competed for SkyVenture New Hampshire last year. Very soon, the rookies will be able to focus on their sequences only, and Brian Touhey may not have to torment his shoulder as much as he did this time...
