Did You Know...

... that the Thunder ISR draw included a Super Sequence and a very slow 3-Blocker?

Thunder ISR at a training camp in Arizona
posted Jun 18th, 2014 - The Sun Path Products NSL News is going back one more time to the AAA Class competition of the Tomscat Trophy 2014.

The story on 14 June 2014 explained that winner Thunder ISR moved up to the next scoring level at this year's 10-round competition. The team now provided the meet videos, and the audience has the opportunity to review how Thunder ISR mastered the draw and the step up to the 22+ average level.

The video includes the performance in Round 5 where Thunder ISR had to swallow 14 point deductions due to the video angle. The Super Sequence would have boosted Thunder's meet average to 24.3 with a 47-pointer in working time.

Thunder ISR indoor and outdoor scoring progression
Close affiliation with Indoor Skydive Roosendaal (ISR)
Thunder ISR's new outdoor scoring level is almost on the level of the team's indoor performance. Thunder finished with a 24.1 average at the World Challenge 2014, the team's last indoor competition.

Of course, the competition draw plays a major role in the story of a meet average. However, the Super Sequence at the Tomscat Trophy did not boost the outdoor average as much as it could have without the 14 points of deductions, and Thunder ISR also had to deal with three 3-block sequences. One of those three sequences, Round 7 (14,10,12), would make the history books as one of the slowest ones that could be drawn out of the current dive pool. Thunder ISR posted a 16-pointer for Round 7.

Thunder's closer affiliation with the wind tunnel in Roosendaal (ISR) may have been one of the reasons why the unofficial amateur world champion was able to break through to the next scoring level. Any other "amateur teams" in the world now have to follow up...
