Did You Know...

... that Sydney Williams discussed Josh Hall and Yo Oweyong's SCSL plans in Elsinore last weekend?

posted Jul 22nd, 2014 - On July 19, Skydive Elsinore hosted the final meet of the season for the Southern California Skydiving League. Teams in attendance included Elsinore GT, Perris Liquid, Perris Franz, 3 Jars and a Head, and How Did John Get So Lucky.

The morning weather was unusual for a typical SoCal July meet day. High clouds with mysterious drops of precipitation were covering the Elsinore skies, allowing for teams to reach competition altitude, but not without some added elements.

3 Jars and a Head and How Did John Get So Lucky were captained by Tom and Tracy Bohm, respectively. The Bohms (Elsinore El Eminope 2013) each brought three newbies together for their first try at an SCSL meet.

After round one, two members of How Did John Get So Lucky decided to stand down, as the added rain drops were a bit distracting. They did not complete the meet.

The four remaining teams continued through the competition, with John Hamilton available for ground coaching. Hamilton (Skydive Elsinore Owner/DZO) led teams through ground prep with 25+ years of tips and tricks he has accumulated during his competitive career, and navigated them through his new online coaching tool, SkydivingCoach.com.

Perris Franz, Perris Liquid, and 3 Jars and a Head all showed improvements from page to page throughout the skydives, as well as from round to round. Perris Liquid finished first in AA with a 6.67 average and Perris Franz finished second with 5.5 average. 3 Jars and a Head continued to improve on their exits, and by the end of the meet had shown vast improvements in proximity and levels. Tom Bohm, captain of 3 Jars, along with his wife, Tracy, have been instrumental in growing the formation skydiving scene at Skydive Elsinore since their arrival last summer.

Elsinore Horizon was not competing, as their point flyer, Sandra Van Der Bilt, injured her knee on an exit at a training camp in June. The team is hopeful for a swift and complete recovery and is looking forward to getting back in the sky together. Tail flyer, Sydney Williams, was on the ground coordinating loads and making sure the show ran smoothly.

At the meet briefing and the meet closeout, Williams discussed the future plans for SCSL and Skydive Elsinore. Jumpers in attendance were excited to hear about Josh Hall and Yo Oweyong's plans for the future of the league.
