Did You Know...

... that Perris Fury likes the fast sequences?

John Eagle next to 4-way Point successor Eliana Rodriguez at the World Meet 2003
posted Jun 18th, 2009 - The first videos of the Paraclete XP Indoor Skydiving Championship 2009 are now available, thanks to Perris Fury's Center Inside, Chris Farina.

The NSL YouTube TV coverage begins with two rounds where the footage of Perris Fury and Arizona Speed both is available, rounds one and three. Round 1 was the fastest sequence of the competition (9,K,P,C) where Fury already created a 5-point distance to Speed.

Both teams were almost flawless, and it is amazing to see how well Thomas Hughes and John Eagle fill in for Eliana Rodriguez and Craig Girard. In fact, John Eagle looks like he had never left Airspeed. A short brainlock cost a few points, and Speed would have been a little bit closer after the meet opener without this hickup.

However, it is questionable whether Speed or Airspeed would have matched Perris Fury's 52-pointer - either without the hickup or with the original Airspeed lineup. Perris Fury has shown in the past that the team likes the fast sequences.

Fury already won the fastest sequence at last year's Paraclete Indoor Championships. It was Round 5 (H,9,F,M) where Airspeed and the Golden Knights posted 55-pointers before Perris Fury came up with a 57-pointer.

It was the same situation at the World Challenge 2009 where Perris Fury posted the highest score in the history of 4-way competition. The 59-pointer for Round 4 (A,C,E,H,K) can still be reviewed in the NSL News story on 14 April 2009. Airspeed's original lineup had a 53-pointer, Hayabusa Defence was second in this round with 56 points.

Round 3 of the Paraclete XP meet had a much slower and more technical sequence (21,N,4) where Perris Fury had the logical advantage of a trained team. Speed missed a few completions of Block 4 (Monopod - Monopod), which was enough for Perris Fury to win this round, as well.

It was interesting to see that Speed had won Round 2 by two points, which was even more a technical sequence (6,2,3) with three blocks. The two extra points that Speed completed in Round 2 included the whole Block 3 (Side Flake Opal - Turf), while Perris Fury was only two random transitions ahead in Round 3.

Perris Fury's video of Round 2 will be uploaded soon, along with the other missing Fury rounds. Hopefully, additional footage of last weekend's wind tunnel competition will also become available later.
