... that the UK meet experience helped to win the ESL Spirit for the 2nd time?

UK meet experience: Bodyflight Aero at the UKSL May meet
posted Sep 22nd, 2014 - The ESL Championship 2014 was successfully concluded after eight rounds. Not much changed after the first six rounds on Friday, and the four teams from Great Britain made sure that the ESL Spirit sword went to their homeland for the 2nd time.

Bodyflight Aero (A Class) and Perpetual Chaos (Rookie Class) maintained their top spots and received 10 ESL points each. A Class team Entropy added 6 ESL points for the 3rd place, and Vultures 4 Mayhem finished off the other delegations with their 5th place in the AAA Class for a total of 30 ESL points.

It was a very efficient performance of the UK delegation, as only four teams had made the trip to Teuge, Netherlands. The ESL points of each UK team counted for the total, which cumulates by the rankings of each delegation's best four teams in any of the four categories. Teams from Great Britain won the ESL Spirit for the first time in 2008 when a total of nine teams competed for the UK delegation.

UK meet experience: Entropy at the UKSL June meet
All four UK teams were in their final positions after Round 6 and defended them successfully. In fact, there were only two changes that occured in the last two rounds on Saturday, and neither of them had an impact on the outcome of the race for the ESL Spirit.

Germany improved the total number of ESL points from 16 to 17 when AA Class team Jump turned the 2-point deficit to Gravity Abuse after Round 6 into a 4-point advantage after Round 8 and moved one slot up in the rankings.

Anatolia Pittcell was the first team from Turkey who attended the ESL Championship, and was in last place of the A Class competition by one point after Round 6. Levent Gurcan, Sinem Tufan, Dara Aslan and Nadir Yilirim, with Erdinc Kuflu on camera, then won Round 7 by two points over Gravity Abuse and eventually finished in 8th place of nine teams in this category. The team from Turkey had the longest travel distance of all teams to the ESL Championship 2014.

UK meet experience: Perpetual Chaos at the UKSL July meet
It was not a big surprise that the UK teams would come up with a strong performance. Their scoring and performance level was well known after attending several meets earlier this year. The ESL Championship was the 7th competition in 2014 for Bodyflight Aero, the AA Class winner. Six of the seven meets were outdoor events.

ESL bronze medal winner Entropy competed for the 5th time this year, with only outdoor meets on the team's 2014 agenda. The same counts for Rookie Class winner Perpetual Chaos, who had won the silver medals at the UK Nationals 2014. The meet experience of the UK teams at their monthly events of the United Kingdom Skydiving League turned out to be helpful at the last outdoor competition of the 2014 season.

Only AAA Class team Vultures 4 Mayhem was new on any of this year's leaderboards. The pick-up team still earned their share of 4 ESL points for the UK account. However, even only the 26 ESL points alone, which Bodyflight Aero (10), Entropy (6) and Perpetual Chaos (10) collected together, would have been enough to win the ESL Spirit for the UK delegation this year. Congratulations to all four UK teams.
