Did You Know...

... that Florida teams challenged each other last weekend at Skydive City?

NCSL AA Class team Safeish
posted Oct 23rd, 2014 - The Florida Skydiving League concluded the 2014 season together with the Northern California Skydiving League last weekend, and two of the three competition classes had teams from both leagues mixed up.

Florida was busy in the AA Class, while Northern California had the strongest showing in the Rookie Class. Safeish (AA) and Counterpoint FX (A) both posted their highest meet averages of the 2014 season in California, as well as ZHills TranZend did in Florida.

Teiwaz and DeLand 3D finished on the top of their leaderboards without scoring higher compared to previous meets this year. Both winners in their categories had to work for their first places, which has been nothing new this year at the meets in Florida.

Especially ZHills TranZend put up a strong fight, and the Teiwaz AA Class lineup saved a 3-point lead over the finish line. Teiwaz had not competed with this lineup at an outdoor competition before. However, the team members knew each other from several Indoor Cloud League events at iFLY Orlando. In fact, the same Teiwaz lineup has posted the recent AAA Class score for iFLY Orlando, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on 20 October 2014.

ZHills TranZend is a well trained team who attended their 6th meet this year, including the USPA Nationals 2014. Center Inside Rebecca Stares was missing, who had a knee surgery right after coming back from the national championships in September.

Fortunately, TranZend had a good substitute available. Team coach Sally Hathaway filled in for the six rounds, and it was not a big surprise that her team finished with a new record average. Rebecca Stares hopes to back in action at the NSL Championship 2014 in November.

Rookie Class team DeLand 3D have their coach always in the active lineup. Robert Chromy is the team's player coach in the center outside slot and guided DeLand 3D to the first competition away from home. The team members had to get used to a new meet environment on Saturday morning and then completed the four rounds on the same day.

Local rival team DeLand Aurai was also present at Skydive City and once again challenged 3D for the top position in the Rookie Class. Aurai was not able yet to get ahead of 3D at one of the FSL meets this year. However, both teams, who are currently the best in the US Rookie Class rankings, will defend their home turf in November against any visiting teams. Aurai will have another opportunity to finish with the last word.

DeLand Aurai had only two 2014 members in last weekend's lineup, Leslie Eggenberger and Rodrigo Espinosa. Purple HaZe member James Saine and another Z-Hills local helped out last Saturday. Several of Florida's 4-way competitors get back together tonight for the next Indoor Cloud League event at iFLY Orlando.
