Did You Know...

... that Mikhail Markine and Brian Johnson helped Florida to the Indoor Cloud League top spot?

iFLY Orlando's AAA Class lineup with Mikhail Markine and Brian Johnson
posted Oct 25th, 2014 - An earlier headline broke the good news for the Florida Skydiving League participants of the Indoor Cloud League activities at iFLY Orlando: "Mikhail Markine and Brian Johnson help Florida to the Indoor Cloud League top spot".

The Florida Skydiving League had scheduled the last Indoor Cloud League meeting of the month for Thursday last week, and it happened that the two world class flyers and coaches were in the area at the same time.

Mikhail Markine is the tail for SDC Rhythm XP, silver medalist at this year's USPA Nationals 2014, and his team has moved from Skydive Chicago to their winter headquarters at Skydive Sebastian. Former Arizona Airspeed and current XL member Brian Johnson is sometimes working in Orlando and was available last Thursday during his most recent visit.

Yvonne Saa with the second AAA Class lineup
The situation at iFLY Orlando's third Indor Cloud League event this month allowed the Florida group to post significantly higher scores for the AAA and AA sequences, where the coaches usually introduce newer and younger 4-way competitors to the whole dive pool. In fact, this time the coaches (Gilles Dutrisac, Kurt Gaebel) had to work hard trying to keep up as well as possible with the world class 4-way competitors.

Brian Johnson was also in a second AAA/AA Class lineup with Yvonne Saa, who used to participate at several FSL Tunnel Kicker events in the earlier days, together with Teiwaz members Sebastian Jimenez and James Hall.

Mikhail Markine also helped three other Florida competitors (Jim Prochaska, Steve Hubbard, Seth Claytor) to improve the scores for the Rookie AAA and A Class sequences significantly. This lineup currently owns the new ICL highscores for October in those two categories.

October highscores with Mikhail Markine: A Class lineup
The biggest contribution to lift the Florida group back up to the top of the ICL leaderboard came from the new lineup of Rookie Class team DeLand Aurai, and neither Mikhail Markine nor Brian Johnson helped them with their flying skills.

Alix Raymond, Leslie Eggenberger, Rodrigo Espinosa and Chris Dunbar posted the 24-pointer for Rookie AA and 26-pointer for Rookie A. Those numbers are not even the highscores for the month, however, they were more than enough to bring the total clearly above the scores of the Hurricane Factory in Prague (136 - 122).

Czech Indoor Cloud League manager Jan Klapka said that his group is not done yet and will respond...

The new DeLand Aurai lineup, with Chris Dunbar, who attended his first Indoor Cloud League event including his first indoor 4-way flying on October 16th, came together for the first time last week. Aurai competed with two alternates (James Saine, Ed Jackson) at last weekend's outdoor competition in Z-Hills after the team's point Cathy Luo got injured in a motorcycle accident, and center outside Alix Raymond was not available.

New 4-way competitor Chris Dunbar has taken the center inside position, and the new lineup did not even train much for the Rookie Class sequences earlier the same evening. Aurai prepares for flying the A Class blocks next year and was busy flying pieces on Thursday before it was time for Indoor Cloud League competition.

Three other 4-way lineups participated last Thursday and competed for spots on the Indoor Cloud League leaderboard for iFLY Orlando. Leith Estabrook, Randy Cutlip, Chris Rhodes and Ali Bawden are planning to form a new 4-way team, while coach Hal Spence was flying with Purple HaZe members Dave Evans, James Saine and Steven Hynds.
