Did You Know...

... that Italy's eX3MO project began in 2000?

Marco Arrigo with Airfix International at the ISR Grand Prix 2013
posted Oct 27th, 2014 - The Sun Path Products NSL News reported on 10 October 2014 that the Italian national 4-way team eX3MO had signed up for the ISR Grand Prix 2014, which is once again recording the highest participation in event history, four weeks before the start of the indoor competition.

It's the first time that eX3MO travels to Roosendaal, even though some of the team members attended the event in different lineups in the past. Former Sinapsi PD member Maro Arrigo, for example, competed with Airfix International at the ISR Grand Prix last year.

Marco Arrigo had also trained and competed with eX3MO's 8-way lineup that won bronze medals for Italy at the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge, France. He is now back in eX3MO's 4-way lineup, and team founder Placido "Paci" Udine provided more details of the long eX3MO history.

Marco Arrigo with Sinapsi PD in 2003
eX3MO was created in 2000 and designed by painter Rudi Mascheretti in Alassio, a small town in Italy. Alessandro "Ale" Betti, Giorgio "Jack" Verga, Massimo "Max" Pugi and Roberto "Robby" Valli were in the original lineup, with Nicola "Jomax" Giommoni on camera.

The 4-way team project came to an end when Massimo Pugi injured himself during the national championships in 2002. Francesco "Tego" Tegoni then turned the eX3MO project to 8-way competition shortly after the event.

The original team members of eX3MO's first 8-way lineup were Francesco Tegoni, Alessandro Betti, Fabrizzio Del Giudice, Fabio Tassan, Giorgio Verga, Luca Stanga, Roberto Valli and Placido Udine, with Paolo Colombo on camera and alternate Stefano Visco. French 4-way and 8-way competitor David Moy was coaching the team.

8-way bronze medals in 2008: eX3MO's 8-way lineup
eX3MO's 8-way lineup competed for Italy at the World Meet 2003 in Gap, France, and started the international career with a 4th place and a 14.4 average.

Fabio "Lore" Lorenzetti, and Massimo "Max" Rao and Marco Arrigo, plus new videographer Luca "Fonta" Fontanella joined the 8-way team when slots became available at the end of the 2003 season.

Italy's Formation Skydiving community was excited, and the participation at the next national championships was growing.

Eventually, eX3MO also competed in 4-way again and placed 3rd at the national championships at the time when Italy's national team Sinapsi PD, with Marco Arrigo, competed on world class level.

However, the eX3MO goal was a medal position in 8-way, and the team made big plans.

Turning back to 4-way: eX3MO's lineup in 2012
eX3MO's 8-way lineup, now with new member Ivano "Ivan" Quadrio, scheduled training camps in the USA with coach Craig Girard in 2007 and Dan BC in 2008.

In fact, Dan BC was a part of eX3MO's 8-way journey all the way, from the 4th place in Gap France 2003, the 5th place at the World Meet 2004 in Croatia, the 4th place at the World Cup 2005 in Eloy, the 3rd place at the World Cup 2007 in Russia to the final goal, the bronze medals at the World Meet 2008 in France.

Original 8-way member Placido Udine said that the 8-way project eventually came to an end after winning the bronze medals.

Placido Udine, Fabio Lorenzetti, Ivano Quadrio and new member Mario "Marietto" Fattoruso eventually decided to go back to 4-way competition, with Fiorini "Max" Massimo on camera. New coach Pete Allum was the alternate for eX3MO's 4-way lineup.

eX3MO at the World Meet 2014 in Prostejov
eX3MO had a 3-year plan in 2010, and the team trained hard with some excellent results on domestic and international level.

The 2012 lineup had just arrived at the 20-average level in 2012 when Placido Udine had a car accident two days before the departure to Dubai.

Fortunately, coach Pete Allum was able and eligible to step in and helped to save the 7th place, just missing the finals by three points with a 19.9 average.

Placido Udine, Fabio Lorenzetti, Mario Fattoruso and Ivan Quadrio continued in 2013, won the national championships with little training and placed 4th at the World Cup in Banja Luka.

Placido Udine, Fabio Lorenzetti and videographer Fiorini "Max" Massimo then recruited former 8-way team mate Marco Arrigo and Antonella Chiarin for the 2014 season. The 10th place at the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014 was the most current eX3MO result, and the ISR Grand Prix 2014 is next on the team agenda.
