posted Dec 11th, 2014 - It was not a walk in the park to win the $10,000 for the 2nd place in 4-way Women at the 5th Dubai International Parachuting Championship, as the modified leaderboard shows.

It was a very competitive field behind the French Girls, and all teams between 2nd and 7th place won or tied at least once the highest scores for the rounds. The US team just did it a few more times than all other teams, which turned out to make the 6-point difference.

Amanda Lampton, Kristina Peterson, Christina West and Rhonda Wilcox, with Chad Wilcox on camera, never won a round by more than one point. However, the team also never gave away a round by more than two points, and the 2-point winners were never the same teams. Consistency won the cash.

It was a US pickup team that came together for the meet, as team member Rhonda Wilcox explained in her own meet report: "In October, an opportunity of a lifetime presented itself. I was selected to represent the USA at the Dubai International Parachuting Championships. My teammates were Christy West, Kris Peterson, Amanda Lampton and Chad as our videographer."

Her husband Chad Wilcox is also the team videographer for Carolina Turbo XP. Christy West trains and competes with Spaceland Lite, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on 26 November 2014. Amanda Lampton won USPA bronze medals in the Advanced Class with Dallas Khaos Black at the USPA Nationals 2014.

Kristina Peterson has been in several different strong 4-way lineups over the years and still trained and competed with 8-way team Perris Moxie this year, Advanced Class winner at the USPA Nationals 2014.

The preview story in November mentioned that the US lineup for the 5th DIPC 2014 might be in medal contention. Christy West had just won FAI silver medals with Spaceland Lite at the FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving after a lighter competition in Austin. The 17.2 indoor average was enough to take the 2nd place behind the Bad Boys from the Czech Republic.

The competition in Dubai was obviously very different and much tougher. However, the US team members are experienced and current 4-way competitors who knew how to deal with meet pressure and traveled back home with $10,000 in their pockets.

Amanda Lampton instantly followed up with her Indoor Cloud League scores from iFLY Dallas for November, which completed the ICL leaderboard. Now she is also looking at her options for the 2015 competition season in the USA...
