Did You Know...

... that iFLY Orlando added five Indoor Cloud League points to the December total?

FAI World Cup 2014 champions: Bad Boys
posted Dec 20th, 2014 - The Florida group of the Indoor Cloud League had work to do in the AAA and AA categories when they came back together at iFLY Orlando last Thursday.

The Hurricane Factory is usually dominating those two competition classes with the well trained Bad Boys, the Czech national 4-way team.

Once in a while, other lineups have outscored the Bad Boys this year, like SkyVenture Montreal's (Richard, Valerie, Yannick Bisson, Ben Lemay) and iFLY Dallas' (Amanda Lampton, Todd Hawkins, Scott Levy, Lucas King) AAA Class lineups in November, or iFLY SF Bay's in July (Rob Radez, Don Burnette, Baat Enosh, Alan Lo).

Florida has not been able yet to outscore the Bad Boys this year, and the Czech national 4-way team is holding once again the AAA and AA top scores for the December sequences so far.

However, the AAA slot switcher and the 2-block AA sequences were still on the Florida agenda in iFLY Orlando's 12-feet chamber last Thursday.

In pursuit of AAA and AA scores: FSL group at iFLY Orlando
Coaches Gilles Dutrisac and Kurt Gaebel had three FSL competitors (Hal Spence, James Hall, Sebastian Jimenez) and new 4-way fan Seth Claytor to take on both the AAA and AA Class sequences.

Jairo Garcia, Jim Prochaska, Alix Raymond and Steve Hubbard joined the hunt for AA Class scores.

The Florida group created once again an internal competition with four different lineups for those two sequences, and results were two new highscores for iFLY Orlando, which added five points to the December total.

Sebastian Jimenez won the the AAA Class competition with Gilles Dutrisac, Kurt Gaebel and James Hall, while the lineup with Hal Spence contributed the 19-pointer for the AA Class sequence.

Freeflyer and new 4-way competitor Seth Claytor was only two points behind in the AA Class in his turn with Gilles Dutrisac, Kurt Gaebel and Hal Spence.

AA Class lineup at iFLY Orlando
The new Florida highscores are still not close enough to threaten the Bad Boys in any way. However, most of the Florida competitors are still new to the long AAA Class sequences with slot switchers and more technical challenges.

It is only a matter of time when the Florida AAA and AA scores will be more competitive, as well.

The small 12-foot flying chamber at iFLY Orlando makes it even more challenging for new AAA and AA Class competitors to execute the required blocks.

Brian Touhey at SkyVenture New Hamshire is always in the same situation in his flying chamber of the same size.

The Rookie Class sequences are much better fitted for the 12-foot chambers, and that was one of the reasons why iFLY Orlando hosted its annual IBA competition on December 13th only in the 4-way Rookie Class.

Live judging by Sally Hathaway
The decision to host a 4-way competition at this year's event was made during the NSL Indoor and Outdoor Championship 2014, when bad weather did not allow much jumping, and the teams and competitors moved to iFLY Orlando to continue the outdoor meet in the flying chamber with only Rookie Class sequences.

Several teams instantly signed up for the IBA competition later in December, and the 4-way competition was now officially included. The Rookie Class sequences allowed the teams to post high scores and averages, which experienced 4-way competitor Sally Hathaway had to evaluate with live judging.

Gilles Dutrisac had recruited two members of his lineup at the NSL Championship (James Hall, Andrea Greening), and Evolution member Martin Lemay replaced Golden Knights member Drew Starr this time. The DeLand DeLand lineup offered some opposition, but Foxtrot eventually won the meet with a 31.8 average.
