This time, 21 different dropzones in Germany worked together, and 115 2-way teams competed at the event. The Aero Fallschirmsport management in Kassel is in charge of the logistics.
Göran Meyer, a member of the multiple German 4-way and 8-way champion team EADS, created the event ten years ago in Schweighofen, a small dropzone in the southwest of Germany, near the border to France. He has organized and grown the event ever since. Mathias Maushake, a former German 8-way champion and general manager of the World Meet 2006 in Germany, has worked together with Göran Meyer when the event became so popular and big.
Göran Meyer also competed at the 2-way competition, together with Steffi Kempter. His 2-way team "Catch Me If You Can" made the three rounds in Kassel and finished with a 24.7 average in 4th place.
The best German 4-way competitors support this event. The first place this year was taken by two members of two teams that will challenge each other for the German national 4-way championship this year, Mike Vetter of X-Ray Remscheid, and Olaf Biedermann of team EADS. "PG Nightmare" finished with a 30.7 average after the three rounds, which were completed at Mike Vetter's skydiving center Go Jump in Gransee, near Berlin.
The three other Incognito members, Pia Weingart, Anne Heinrich and Sarah Hajooze, finished in 3rd place with a 27.3 average.
The NSL News had reported on 7 May 2009 how tight the race for the 4-way championship is promising to be this year in Germany. Three teams seem to be in contention for the title: the defending Champion FSC Eisenach, former champion EADS and the new challenger X-Ray Remscheid.
FSC Eisenach member Dieter Schwarz teamed up with another Eisenach local, Leo Springub, and finished in 18th place with a 16.5 average.
Mathias Maushake and Göran Meyer pointed out that they were especially pleased with the 99th place of Martin Kader and Henrik Gevert who has been halflaterally paralyzed since he was born. He started skydiving two years ago and has become a regular at the skydiving center in Kassel-Calden. His goal was to place within the top 100. He achieved his goal "easily" as Mathias Maushake reported.
