Did You Know...

... that Sandy Grillet had new record participation in the Northern Plains?

Record celebration in 2007
posted Jul 10th, 2009 - The new scores of the Northern Plains Skydiving League have now completed last weekend's leaderboard. Great news came from Skydive Twin Cities, as the eleven NPSL teams set a new participation record for the Northern Plains.

NPSL Director Sandy Grillet had recorded two meets with ten teams in the past, the first one in July 2007, the second one in July 2008. July 2009 brought the new record number of 4-way teams to the NPSL meet last weekend.

Sandy Grillet had launched the Northern Plains Skydiving League in 2001 and is now in his 9th season without any interruptions. He has consistently brought new jumpers into his comfortable 4-way environment, and he supports this community carefully.

Microburst with Sandy and Nick Grillet
His son Nick Grillet grew up in this family oriented skydiving community and joined his father's team Microburst as soon as he was old enough. Nick Grillet has moved to Florida in the meantime, works for Performance Designs and trains and competes with a team from California, Elsinore BTE. He will probably compete this weekend in Elsinore, a week after his father posted his own scores in the Northern Plains.

Eight of the nine teams that competed at the NPSL May meet came back last weekend. The A Class teams finished exactly in the same ranking order as in May. One new A Class team, 4 N Way, joined the competition for the first time this year. Funnelingus won the A Class competition again but has to watch the Free Radicals from here on, who jumped from a 3.3 average at the season opener to a 6.0 average last weekend.

Funnelingus also took the first place on the international overall AA Class leaderboard. Two teams from Scandinavia, Lime from Sweden and 5DQ from Finland, posted their scores on the same weekend and together with the five NPSL teams.

Last weekend's AAA Class winner: Evolution
The three AA Class teams of the May meet came back, as well, but they did not finish in the same order this time. Booty Grab scored higher compared to May (7.0 - 7.3) and beat the May winner, Waiting 4 Head (7.2 - 6.7) last weekend. However, a new NPSL lineup, Quaaack, outscored all other NPSL teams in the AA Class with the 8.5 average and took the first place at the team's first competition. The NSL News will follow up soon with more details of the lineups.

Cosmos Cash, the only NPSL team in the AAA Class this time, finished in the middle of the international leaderboard after increasing the meet average from 9.0 in May to 10.8 last weekend. The next NPSL meet is scheduled for August 8. Sandy Grillet's 4-way community will meet again, and the NPSL teams will also face international competition, this time from the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Czech Republic.
