Did You Know...

... that Arizona Airspeed has a significant lead in the USPA Nationals 2009 poll?

posted Jul 11th, 2009 - The NSL News has covered the race of the three best US Open Class teams for the gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2009 already several times this year. Especially the scores posted by Arizona Airspeed, Perris Fury and Spaceland Force XP at this year's competitions provided the content for evaluation and speculation.

All three teams attended the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2009. Airspeed and Fury also competed at the Valentine's Meet 2009 and two indoor competitions, the World Challenge 2009 and the Paraclete XP Indoor Skydiving Championship 2009.

Top contenders for the USPA Championship 2009 title
The scores and videos provided enough information to discuss the chances of each of the teams to win the USPA Nationals 2009 and qualify as the US national team for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 in Russia. The last comprehensive coverage of the current situation by the NSL News was posted on 18 June 2009 and included videos of the wind tunnel competition in Raeford.

This story also included a new poll with the question which team may have the best chances to win the USPA Nationals 2009. The same poll was later added to the event page for the 4-way competition in October, where it is still available for the NSL News audience at all times.

Current standings at the USPA Nationals 2009 poll
The first results of the poll are also available, and Arizona Airspeed's reigning 4-way world champions still have a significant lead over Perris Fury and Spaceland Force XP. 61% of the participants in the poll expect Airspeed to defend the US title this year. Perris Fury now has a slight lead over the Force.

The poll will remain on the event page until the last round will be completed in October. Events will happen in the meantime, and the NSL News will provide updates of the three top contenders and their race. It will be interesting to see if any event can change Airspeed's very strong position in the public view, or if any of the two challengers will be able to close the large gap in the remaining four months.
