Voluntas battles with the DaneZ in Denmark
posted Jul 13th, 2009 - Last weekend's scores have already been replaced by the first numbers from Denmark where this year's national championships are in full swing. This does not mean at all that last weekend's leaderboard is complete. It will still be updated as soon as more scores are coming in.

It's an interesting battle in Denmark where the national team Voluntas tries to leave the dominating team of the past years behind, the DaneZ. It doesn't work so far, however, there are five more rounds to come, and the weather forecast is great. At the same time, the national B-Team Sequence has kept up very well, and better than ever before, with Voluntas throughout the first four rounds. Sequence then lost it all in Round 5.

Moved up into the AA Class: PACK'D
Back to last weekend, more details of the Southern California Skydiving League at Skydive Elsinore have become available. Melanie Curtis provided a short summary of the event and reported a great turnout that Skydive Elsinore has not seen in a few years. There were even a couple of pickup teams that did not compete officially but jumped along side all the other 4-way enthusiasts.

Rookie Class team Elsinore Rigby, spearheaded by inspired young jumper Crystal Sanchez, attended the team's first competition. Melanie Curtis observed Elsinore Rigby throughout the meet: "They were enjoying easy gold medals with no competition and the true goodness of getting out there and trying. Fantastic."

A heated battle took place in the AA Class between Elsinore FLV, Perris Matrix, NFC and Team Awesome battling for the silver and bronze medals. San Diego team PACK'D moved up from the A to the AA Class at this meet and showed up with new matching suits and a new skill level. Jimani took the AA Class gold medals easily, Team Awesome ended up in 2nd place and Matrix in 3rd.

Founding Fathers lineup in 2008
Home team Elsinore BTE ended up in 3rd place of the AAA Class competition. Tropical Fish was visiting again from Canada and posted some great scores in the slow 6-round draw. Nobody could keep up with the Founding Fathers who competed already a few times last year.

Dan BC and John Hamilton joined forces with Perris Fury's Christy Frikken and Josh Hall last weekend. Founding Fathers' 17.0 average is still easily holding the first place of last weekend's AAA Class leaderboard. Melanie Curtis, Elsinore BTE member, explained the Founding Fathers' performance:

"They took the gold having some fun, showing the up-and-comers that once you got it, you always got it."

The NSL News will follow up with more information from the Elsinore meet soon.
