Did You Know...

... that Scott Latinis observed his 8-way team mate from the distance?

posted Aug 18th, 2009 - The popular NSL Gloves recently had a free advertisement when Texas veteran 4-way and 8-way competitor Scott Latinis was filmed by Perris Fury member Chris Farina. Both participated in a demo jump for T-Mobile over San Francisco, and Scott Latinis wears the NSL Gloves on the video.

Dallas Rogue in action
Scott Latinis is currently training and competing with the 8-way team Dallas Rogue. The high-profile lineup will try to win a medal at the USPA Nationals 2009. The 8-way competition is tough this year, as Arizona Airspeed, Golden Knights and Paraclete XP have very strong 8-way lineups, as well.

One of his 8-way team mates is Ron Hill who recently moved back from Texas to Florida where he used to train and compete years ago. It did not take long until Teiwaz found out that Ron Hill is back in the area and invited him to join the Teiwaz lineups at any time.

The FSL August meet last weekend at Skydive City in Zephyrhills was the first time that the Teiwaz invitation and Ron Hill's work agenda fit well. He returned to the Teiwaz lineup in the Center Inside slot and joined forces with Bob Byrne (Center Outside), Michael Biederman (Point) and Kurt Gaebel (Tail).

Ron Hill with Teiwaz
It was another first-time lineup for Teiwaz, and the slots were discussed Saturday morning before Round 1. Ron Hill and Kurt Gaebel had already trained and competed together for Team Frost (Carlos Curti, Niklas Gummeson) in 2002. Frost ended up in 7th place of the Open Class competition with a 14.9 average.

Ron Hill was in the Tail slot at this time in his competition career, and Kurt Gaebel had the Center Inside Slot for Frost. Both switched slots at last weekend's FSL August meet and the rear piece's reunion event. Bob Byrne (Center Outside) and Michael Biederman (Point) flew the front piece.

The third Teiwaz lineup at the third meet this year finished with a 13.7 average after the six rounds in Z-Hills, the highest Teiwaz meet average of the 2009 season. Only Bob Byrne attended each of the three meets.

Scott Latinis followed the Teiwaz performance with his team mate Ron Hill from Texas and commented jokingly: "Looks like y'all had a pretty good meet. I hope that his 8-way skills didn't slow y'all down too much..." It didn't, as the NSL-TV video shows. The first four rounds are now available for reviews.
