Did You Know...

... that DiZturbia is moving up meet by meet?

DiZturbia with Rodney Cruce
posted Aug 21st, 2009 - The last videos of the Florida Skydiving League's August meet have been uploaded and are now available for reviews.

The complete set of the latest FSL videos include the six rounds of Z-Hills AAA Class team DiZturbia. The team members (Jaime Cruce - Point, Christine Freiherr - Center Outside, Sarah Knipling - Tail, Laura Song - Center Inside) moved up into the AAA Class with this lineup at the beginning of the 2009 season and have shown an impressive progression (8.5 - 10.3 - 11.7) meet by meet.

James "Bu" Klinge and Rodney Cruce are both helping the team with indoor and outdoor coaching. They also had to fill slots in the last two meets. Jaime Cruce was not available for the June meet, and James "Bu" Klinge was helping out flying the Point position.

Laura Song watches her team's preparations
Laura Song has had problems with her shoulder for a while and had to sit out at the August meet. Rodney Cruce filled her Center Inside slot this time.

Laura Song was still at the competition site and observed her team's activities with the alternate and player coach. She hopes that she will have her full strength back within a few weeks and join the DiZturbia lineup again for the final preparations for the USPA Nationals 2009.

Both DiZturbia coaches, James "Bu" Klinge and Rodney Cruce, have been training and competing together for several years. Inept was their last lineup (Sean Sweeney, Billy Andrews) at the USPA Nationals 2008, while they have also attended several meets together with different Teiwaz lineups in Florida.

DiZturbia with James "Bu" Klinge
They recently share the DiZturbia coaching job and have a friendly rivalry to push the team as much upward as possible.

Rodney Cruce won the August meet over James "Bu" Klinge at his June meet with the team, and the DiZturbia ladies were ready to tease their primary coach by using a new team name: "BooWho". The NSL News interfered, as the lineup is still the same, and DiZturbia was not that serious with the idea anyway.

Rodney Cruce could take advantage of the improved skills that his friend and team mate has been working on. The Center Inside slot allowed him to take control of the pace, and he pushed it as far as he could see it working well. James "Bu" Klinge could not do the same when he was filling the Point slot for DiZturbia.

SDC Furies XP with Brian Johnson
The 11.7 average moves the Z-Hills team much closer to the part of the leaderboard where teams win medals at the USPA Nationals in the Advanced Class. There are not many other potential Advanced Class teams that have posted significantly higher scores this season so far. One of these teams is another all-female lineup, the SDC Furies XP of the Midwest Skydiving League.

Brian Johnson is coaching the Furies, and the NSL News just uploaded the first meet videos of the MWSL August meet, including videos of the Furies. More MWSL videos will follow soon, and both teams have the opportunity to see what to expect at this year's USPA Nationals in October. The Furies are quite far ahead at the moment. Both teams have one more opportunity to get more competition practice in September.
