Did You Know...

... that Prime Pickles and Pangaea are ready to challenge the VAF Warriors?

Prime Pickles at the World Challenge 2015
posted May 5th, 2015 - The start of the competition season in Denmark is coming up soon. The DFU Open us the annual season opener, followed by the national championships in July. The Danish Indoor Championship is scheduled once again at Bodyflight Bedford in October.

It seems to become an exciting race for the top position in Denmark this year, and the results of the World Challenge 2015 provided a preview of the competition between two of the three potential top contenders, Prime Pickles and Pandora/Pangaea.

Pangaea competed under the name Pandora in Bedford, as the team did not have the complete lineup available. Flemming Andersen is the actual 4th member, and former DaneZ member Jesper Rasmussen (Danez, Teiwaz) replaced him at the World Challenge.

VAF Warriors at the World Meet 2014 in Prostejov
The VAF Warriors are the defending national champions and competed for Denmark at the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014. They have a busy competition schedule and will also attend the World Cup 2015 in Teuge and the indoor World Meet at the Hurricane Factory in Prague.

The Sun Path Products NSL News published an update of the VAF Warriors on November 3rd, which laid out the plans for the 2015 season, including a new coaching relationship with former NMP-PCH Hayabusa member Roy Janssen.

The Prime Pickles are in their second season with the same lineup. Kate Cooper-Jensen and her husband Carsten are still teamed up with two members of former national lineups, Kasper Svanekiær and Brian Gregersen. They battled with Pangaea in Bedford, whose complete lineup consists of Kjetil Nordin, Flemming Andersen, Peter Stræde and Hans Oksen.

A Class winner at the Danish Nationals 2014: AirRush
Kjetil Nordin and Flemming Andersen know each other from training and competing with Perris Blitz and AirPlay, while Peter Stræde and Hans Oksen were members of the Danish B-teams Aerodyne Steam and Contrails. Pangaea won the first Danish showdown with an 8-point advantage in Bedford.

The results at the World Challenge are still only an indication of the situation at the beginning of the 2015 season. Pangaea member Kjetil Nordin said that the Prime Pickles "are known for their main focus on outdoor training". His own teams has only trained in the wind tunnel so far.

Kjetil Nordin added that two of last year's Danish A Class teams have made the move into the AAA/Open Class. Phoenix and AirRush will join the three top teams on the AAA Class leaderboard this year. He said that Denmark's small 4-way community is excited to see more young competitors join the AAA Class competition.

VAF Warriors with coach Roy Janssen
AirRush copied AirPlay's strategy of 2012 and used the AA Class at the World Challenge as a transition, since Denmark applies only the A and AAA categories. The strategy worked very well for AirPlay, who finished in bronze medal position at the team's first national championships.

The DFU Open is coming up soon, where the VAF Warriors finished only 2nd last year. A high-profile pickup team from Norway (1814 - Kjetil Nordin, Trude Sviggum, Derek Broughton, Mattias Nord, Bjarke Gjadesen on camera) won with a 17.7 average, and Kjetil Nordin will try to defend the DFU title with his new team.

The VAF Warriors with Roy Janssen will be eager to show the results of their winter training, and the new Danish challengers are ready to take on the national 4-way team...
