Did You Know...

... that 4-way kids are challenging their parents in France?

Team Prodigy in 2007
posted May 19th, 2015 - Wind tunnel practice did not only bring a new training tool to skydivers and a new attraction to non-skydivers. It also opened the door for a new generation of teams and competitors.

Teenagers do not have to wait any longer until they turn 18 and are permitted to jump from air planes in most countries of the world.

There are no age limits for indoor training and competition, and it did not take very long until the first kids showed up at indoor 4-way competitions.

The Sun Path Products NSL News history in this area began with Ellie McCoy, who competed with Team Aeon at the World Challenge 2008. Emma and Gary Beyer had launched the Prodigy team project for kids in 2007.

Team Future, with the Tinucci siblings Kayla and Justin, followed up at Bodyflight Bedford a year later. Finland's Pro Team family brought son Kalle Pohjola to the World Challenge 2013, the same year when the Bisson siblings Valerie and Yannick competed for the first time with father Richard in Canada.

Team Future at the World Challenge 2008
Next step was the elimination of at least the parents in the lineups, and France launched a similar project as Emma and Gary Beyer did at SkyVenture Colorado in 2007.

French national 4-way coach Marin Ferre was heading a new 4-way project for teenagers, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on March 26th, 2014.

The Ak'demie flying school at Aerokart in Paris is still running, and both teams attended their third 4-way competition this year in February. Goal for both teams is still the World Challenge 2016.

Marin Ferre is supported by assistant coaches Amélie Tirman, Deep Blue world champion of 2010 and 2012 in 4-way Women, and Mathieu Canesson, member of the French national 8-way team in 2014.

Marin Ferre said that his project group has formed a third lineup, and Françoise Simons-Hamouchi is still managing the activities in Paris. She was Amélie Tirman's Deep Blue team mate in 2010.

French Monaco Vitalsea fathers with Ak'demie 2 sons
There are no player coaches, friends or parents any longer in the teams of the newest 4-way generation. However, there are still skydiving parents who are in great support of the projects.

Two fathers of the second French kids team, Ak'demie 2, are well known names in the 4-way and 8-way competition world. Valentin Vazille's father Frank trained and competed with the French world class 8-way teams in the late 80s and early 90s.

He had a comeback with 4-way team Monaco Vitalsea, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on March 22nd, 2011.

Frank Vazille's Vitalsea team mate Stephane Mattoni signed up his son Tom for the kids project, as well.

Fathers and sons are not in the same lineups, however, they have attended all three meets together so far. Coach Marin Ferre helped the two fathers at the FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving. Project manager Françoise Simons-Hamouchi and assistant coach Amélie Tirman competed in Austin, as well - and won.

The Monaco Vitalsea fathers were still ahead of the Ak'demie sons, which will probably not last much longer. Ak'demie 1 won the first few rounds at the last meet in February...
