Did You Know...

... that NMP-PCH Hayabusa is the first triple gold world champion in history?

CISM gold medals
posted May 30th, 2015 - Yesterday's news update, including the new video of the live NSL Talk with the complete NMP-PCH Hayabusa lineup at the World Challenge 2015, was a reminder of another video clip that Andy Grauwels had put together earlier this year.

The Hayabusa video shows the team in action at different events last year. It begins at the military CISM World Championship, followed by footage from indoor meets at the World Challenge and Paraclete XP before it finds its highlight and grande finale at the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014.

It is always fascinating to watch the best teams in the world performing the 4-way Open Class dive pool in their breath-taking speed.

An edited video clip with the best cuts of the best and fastest team makes it look even more impressive.

Andy Grauwels' new Hayabusa video also brings attention to a new record that has not been mentioned yet. NMP-PCH Hayabusa is currently the reigning world champion in three different categories: CISM, Outdoor and Indoor.

The CISM gold medals are official ones, as well as the FAI gold medals in Prostejov 2014. However, it is also a fact that Hayabusa is the undisputed and unofficial indoor world champion after winning the World Challenge 2014 with the previous lineup, and then the Wind Games 2015 and the World Challenge 2015 with Jeroen "Bob" Nollet the new lineup. The opponents at the Wind Games included Arizona Airspeed.

It was the first time in 2014 that the best military 4-way team in the world also won the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving. The previous 4-way world champions in the modern era of Formation Skydiving competition since 1985, all from the USA and France, were civilian teams.

Airspeed Odyssey (Craig Girard, Eliana Rodriguez, Mark Kirkby, Andy Delk) combined the unofficial indoor (World Challenge in Bedford) and official outdoor (World Meet in Maubeuge) titles in 2008.

The French national team of 2010 (Mathiey Bernier, Guillaume Bernier, Jeremie Rollet, Julien Degen) did the same in Bedford and Menzelinsk.

The indoor and outdoor titles were split in 2012 (Arizona Airspeed - NMP-PCH Hayabusa) and the Belgian team united them again last year, while adding the military title for the first world triple gold.

Hayabusa traveled the road to the triple gold step by step. The team started as a civilian team in Spa and signed up for military services to go full time.

Then they won the CISM gold medals first. Next they took the indoor top position after winning the World Challege 2011 for the first time. Finally they won the FAI gold medals in Prostejov 2014 and will most likely also become the first official FAI indoor world champion at the 1st FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships 2015.
