Did You Know...

... that the MWSL teams were compensated for bad weather with Rhythm coaching?

Steve and JaNette Lefkowitz, here with Erica Gorski
posted Jun 4th, 2015 - Last weekend's overall leaderboard is complete. Unfortunately, the weather cooperated only in France and in the Northern Plains, where a total of 22 teams completed all scheduled rounds.

The French 4-way teams had eight rounds on the Coupe de France agenda, while the US teams of the Northern Plains Skydiving League completed six rounds.

The Czech 4-way teams are still waiting for their successful 2015 outdoor season opener after their second rainy Saturday. One team decided to stay for Sunday action. Zoonte was fortunate and had enough good weather to complete the six meet rounds. Once again, the Czech A Class team ended up on the top of the leaderboard in this category.

The teams of the Midwest Skydiving League were ready to go for their outdoor season opener at Skydive Chicago, as well, and were not much luckier than the Czech teams. However, it was the strongest showing for a meet opener in years, and SDC Rhythm XP members JaNette and Steve Lefkowitz made it still a valuable meet experience.

Rhythm seminar with Steve and JaNette Lefkowitz
Eight teams showed up to compete, including returning teams like SDC Jetstream Tango and SkyKnights Pac Attack, new teams like SDMW Next and SDC Foursight, plus several other 2014 MWSL competitors. Steve Lefkowitz had the meet details for the Sun Path Products NSL News:

"The weekend was marred by largely unjumpable weather. However, three teams braved 10,000 foot ceilings and even light rain to get one load up before it became totally unjumpable. Jetstream Tango put up an impressive 11 on 6,K,21 which was by far the strongest score put up for any team in Intermediate this weekend.

Extreme also made a strong showing with an 8 on that same round, matching all other teams (besides Jetstream) for the weekend. Both teams gave us a hint of the strong performances we can expect throughout the season.

The third team to jump was SDC Foursight. Competing in Rookie Class, Foursight consists of four new competitors (Irina Meshcheryakova, Erin Kotlarczyk, Sid Choudhury, and Aaron Martinez). They scored an impressive 6 in round one; their first competition round ever. Look for all four of these competitors to do great things in this season and in future seasons."

SDC Jetstream Tango
While there was only one competition load all weekend, the teams made the best of their time on the ground. Meet coaches JaNette and Steve Lefkowitz, with support from members of SDC Jetstream Tango Eric Bambach, Hank Allen, Pete Eng, and Justin Wageman, provided guidance to all the teams for the competition sequences.

Steve Lefkowitz held seminars throughout the weekend on exits, visualization, tracking, and creeping techniques. The teams agreed that though there wasn't a lot of jumping, they all got a lot out of the weekend.

Steve Lefkowitz said that teams like SDMW Next, Sky Knights Band of Flying Amigos and Sky Knights Pac Attack "deserve special recognition for traveling out from their home DZ's to attend the competition".

They were at least rewarded with the available coaching and could take advantage of the down time. The next MWSL meet is scheduled for June 20th at Chicagoland Skydiving Center. Steve Lefkowitz is looking foward to the next opportunity, hopefully with better weather: "Based on our last meet, we're looking forward to some great performances and exciting competitions in the Midwest throughout the season."
