Did You Know...

... that AtomiX and Remscheid continue with last year's battle for German silver medals?

AtomiX in the very beginnings
posted Jun 28th, 2015 - Two German teams had an interesting 1-point battle at a small regional 4-way competition near Berlin this weekend, and the scores provide a preview of the situation at this year's national championships.

The Sun Path Products NSL News has followed the progression of the young German team AtomiX for several years. The last update introduced new team member Janine Tillenburg on November 9th, 2014.

Another update from Germany also introduced the new lineup of team Remscheid on April 14th. German national 4-way team Airbus Illertissen and Remscheid had both posted their first 2015 scores at the April meet of the Florida Skydiving League. AtomiX and Remscheid were now facing each other directly at the annual Nordcup competition.

Silver at the German Nationals 2014
Both teams knew each other from last year's national championships, where they were tied after Round 4 in the race for the silver medals. Three Remscheid members (Steffen Schiedeck, Uli Sehrbrock, Kai Wolf) competed under GoJump X-Ray Gransee last year before Thomas Spielvogel replaced Mike Vetter for the 2015 season.

Thomas Spielvogel and Uli Sehrbrock then competed with Steffen Schiedeck at the 5th DIPC 2014, where Carsten Reese filled the open slot for Remscheid, and where Remscheid finalized the plans for the 2015 season.

AtomiX had a personnel change, as well, after the German Nationals 2014. Former Remscheid member Janine Tillenburg joined the ambitious team and began with the preparations for the 2015 season.

New AtomiX lineup in 2015
Last year's battle for the silver medals at the national championships was as close as it can be, as both teams were tied after Round 4. However, this weekend's competition between AtomiX and Remscheid was a copy of last year's competition, only on a significantly higher performance level.

Neither of the two teams was close to the 15-average level at the national championships, and AtomiX had 13.8 as the highest meet average in the record books. Both teams have used the winter season for indoor and outdoor training, and the performance is now at the 16-average lavel.

Janine Tillenburg is now challenging some of her former Gamma Ray and 8-way team mates at the 5th DIPC, who are also the second half of the German 8-way team Airbus. It seems as if this year's German Nationals will see a copy of the battle for silver medals in 2014. No German team seems to be in reach of top contender Airbus Illertissen, while the situation between AtomiX and Remscheid promises an exciting battle for the same silver medals.
