Did You Know...

... that Spaceland Lite needed creative engineering for Block 10 at the Dallas Super Cup?

Next duel coming soon: Spaceland Lite...
posted Oct 8th, 2015 - The Sun Path Products NSL News covered the two main 4-way events in Texas, the Texas Shootout in July, and the Dallas Super Cup in September, with a few updates.

Both events introduced several of the 4-way teams from Texas who will compete later this month at the USPA Nationals 2015. The Sun Path Products NSL News will report live from the event site at Skydive Arizona in Eloy.

Teams from Texas usually end up in USPA medal positions of the AAA/Advanced Class and the AA/Intermediate Class. The currently two strongest teams from Texas, Dallas 350 and Spaceland Lite, have won their USPA medals in these categories at previous national championships and will not be able to reach the top spots in the AAA/Open Class, at least not this year. However, the Sun Path Products NSL News explained earlier that they will surely have their own battle on the same leaderboard, as the scores of the Dallas Super Cup indicated.

Neither Spaceland Lite nor Dallas 350 competed on Lite's home turf in July, even though all team members were engaged in the event with other lineups and coaching. Both teams then competed on the 350 home turf at Skydive Dallas two months later, as the story on September 21st reported.

It was a close battle, with a difference of only five points after six rounds, and it will probably be even closer in Eloy.

Spaceland Lite informed the Sun Path Products NSL News later that the circumstances were once again challenging for the team. Last year's trip to the USPA Nationals 2014 took place under unfortunate circumstances, as the story on March 23rd had explained.

Back in time for 8-way training at Paraclete: Dave Grabowski (left)
The situation before the Dallas Super Cup was somehow similar for Spaceland Lite, compared to last year's challenging trip to Skydive Chicago. After Dave Grabowski had joined the team in January, and Lite was training hard for six months, he tore his right bicep tendon in early July when exiting Block 22 (T - Chinese T). He needed surgery to re-attach it.

After six weeks of recovery and physical therapy, he eventually made it back to action for a Spaceland Lite 8-way camp at Paraclete over Labor Day weekend. Then the 4-way lineup went straight to the Dallas Super Cup for the battle with Dallas 350.

Spaceland Lite member Devon Shows said that his team is still conservative with exits to avoid re-injury, and Lite was not up to full speed yet. There was even some "creative engineering" at the Super Cup in Round 4 (5,C,10) to keep Dave Grabowski from having to spin the rear piece in Block 10 (Diamond - Bunyip) with his injured arm. Spaceland Lite is now hoping to be back to full speed in Eloy - and the next battle with Dallas 350...
