Sean Sweeney proved himself wrong and helped to do something that 8-way teams have tried since 1997 without much success. They scored a new world record for a single round with the 32-pointer in Eloy. The Sun Path Products NSL News will soon follow up with the story of the new world record.
For now, the new video clip presents all AAA/Open Class teams with the fastest round in the 4-way Open Class competition. It was Round 3 where the 4-way teams in the AAA/Open/Advanced Class had the opportunity to boost their meet averages, and they did so, as the video shows.
The situation was different compared to the 8-way competition where the sequence for Round 9 did not seem to promise a new world record. Round 3 in 4-way seemed to be faster than the actual scores were showing. Arizona Airspeed members and other 4-way experts thought that mid-40s would be realistic, and Airspeed ended up with a 43-pointer for the round's highscore.
Verve XP was actually the only team out of scoring and placing order. The 27-pointer tied Prestige Worldwide's score for the round, who eventually finished three ranks ahead. There was no other 4-way Open Class round where all teams finished in such a perfect scoring order, with the one Verve exception...
