Did You Know...

... that Dan BC scored 35 points with the Golden Knights 8-way team in Eloy?

Preparations for the 35-pointer
posted Nov 13th, 2015 - The Sun Path Products NSL News goes back to the aftermath of the USPA Nationals 2015.

The 8-way competition at the event included the historical Round 1, where the Golden Knights eventually set a new world record for a single round with the 32-pointer for the fastest sequence (N,E,D,16) of the 10-round draw. The previous 31-pointer by the Golden Knights was 18 years old and posted at the world meet in Turkey 1997.

The 31-pointer of 1997 survived several challenges by French national 8-way lineups and the Golden Knights over the years. The new 2015 lineup of the US Army team eventually broke the longest standing Formation Skydiving record at the end of this team's first year and tied the 23.7 record average of last year's lineup at the same time.

Golden Knights with Dan BC after the 35-pointer
However, the Golden Knights were not done with the 32-pointer. The team randomly invites a skydiver in a lottery to join the US Army team for a jump. This time, it was original Arizona Airspeed member Dan BC who had the opportunity after the ten rounds at the USPA Nationals.

Josh Coleman volunteered to sit on the bench, and the team with Dan BC put a sequence together (N,3,16) that included the same Block 16 of the world record sequence in Round 1, together with the other fast Block 3 and the same Crank as a random formation.

The NSL-TV camera captured Dan BC on his way to the boarding area and found him again after landing with the Golden Knights. The new NSL-TV video also includes the 50 seconds of working time of the seven Golden Knights and Dan BC, with David Flynn on camera.

Video review after the 35-pointer
Dan BC is still a very well trained 4-way and 8-way competitor and had completed ten rounds in 4-way with AAA/Advanced Class bronze medalist Perris Dauntless 5 and another ten rounds in 8-way with silver medalist Arizona Airspeed. It was no big surprise that he was able to keep up with the Golden Knights, even on the world's highest performance level in 8-way. In fact, the lineup with Dan BC scored 35 points within the 50 seconds of working time, which would beat the new 8-way world record by three points...

Arizona Airspeed's ten meet rounds in Eloy are coming along with the video of the 35-pointer. The Airspeed 8-way lineup was a combination of four different 4-way generations. Dan BC and Jack Jefferies represented the original lineup of 1994, Andy Delk competed for Airspeed Odyssey in 2008 and 2010, Josh Hall won his 4-way gold medal in 2012. The current 4-way team (Thomas Hughes, Niklas Hemlin, Thiago Gomes, Chris Farina) completed the 8-way lineup, with Justin Price on camera, and finished in 2nd place.

Josh Coleman is now back in his slot, and the Golden Knights are getting ready for the trip to Dubai for the Clash of Champions and the World Air Games.
