Did You Know...

... that the Qatar Falcons competed at the USPA Nationals 2015?

26.0 average at the FAI World Indoor Meet: Qatar Tigers
posted Nov 21st, 2015 - Both of Qatar's national teams, the Tigers in 4-way and the Falcons in 8-way, missed the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014.

They came back after a long break at the 5th Dubai International Parachuting Championship at the end of last year and have been in full training and competition swing ever since.

The Qatar Tigers impressed the 4-way competition world at the two indoor meets they attended (World Challenge 24.6 - FAI World Indoor 26.0) while the Qatar Falcons won the FAI bronze medals at the FAI World Cup 2015 in Teuge.

Both teams will add more world class indoor scores to their accounts at the Clash of Champions and then unfortunately miss the World Air Games 2015 where only the best teams of the previous world meet are invited.

FAI bronze medals in Teuge: Qatar Falcons
The Qatar Falcons were looking for more competition practice after the 3rd place at the FAI World Cup 2015 in Teuge.

There are not many 8-way events to find, including indoor meets, so the Qatar Falcons traveled to Eloy for the USPA Nationals 2015.

They signed up as a guest team for the AAA/Advanced Class competition in Eloy, as they expected a tighter and more challenging situation for the team in this category, compared to the AAA/Open Class competition with the Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed.

It turned out that the Falcons ended up far ahead of the US teams in the Advanced Class and needed the Open Class leaderboard to find serious competition.

Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed were still out of reach for the Qatar 8-way team. However, the Amphibious Attack Tigers made it difficult enough for the Falcons to finish in 3rd place behind the two top teams.

Qatar Falcons at the USPA Nationals 2015
The Falcons finished short of their 14.3 record average that they had posted at the World Cup in Teuge.

The Dutch national 8-way team M8trix had pushed the Qatar team to the personal best level at the September competition, and the Falcons passed the most serious test in the team career successfully.

Their 8-way coach Gary Smith was also the player coach for M8trix and was pushing both teams to their highest performance level.

The World Air Games 2015 would have offered a very interesting competition for the top spots on the Arabian Peninsula between the teams of the neighboring countries, United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

All their teams can compete at the Clash of Champions, while the World Air Games have a limited field of teams. The next outdoor confrontation has to be postponed until next year...
