... that four 4-way world champions and coaches met for a new Coaches Corner NSL Talk?

Craig Girard with Dubai Asaar's 8-way team
posted Nov 29th, 2015 - The aftermath of the Clash of Champions continues with the next Coaches Corner.

Four 4-way world champions met for an NSL Talk session after the 4-way Speed Round was completed.

Craig Girard, Solly Williams, Jeremie Rollett and Mathieu Bernier are now just as engaged as coaches as they were when they won their 4-way and 8-way gold medals.

Craig Girard won several gold medals in 4-way and 8-way with the Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed.

He and Eliana Rodriguez moved to Dubai after their last world meet with Airspeed in Menzelinsk 2010. They were hired by Skydive Dubai to create a formidable Formation Skydiving delegation for the United Arab Emirates.

Five years later, the Dubai Asaar teams are a solid part of the international 4-way and 8-way community. Craig Girard is currently still training and competing for Dubai in 4-way and 8-way.

4-way gold medals in Menzelinsk 2010: Jeremie Rollett and Mathieu Bernier
Jeremie Rollett and Mathieu Bernier won 8-way gold medals together in 2006 and 2008. Then they were in the French 4-way lineup that defeated Arizona Airspeed with Craig Girard in 2010.

It was the same event where Mathieu Bernier re-wrote the Formation Skydiving history books and became the first and only competitor who won 4-way and 8-way gold medals at the same world meet.

Jeremie Rollett took over Jerome David's job as the French national head coach after the unique French FS sweep in Menzelinsk.

He still selected the current French 4-way and 8-way lineups after the world meet in Prostejov 2014 before handing over the reins to Mathieu Bernier and accepting the coaching job for the Qatar Tigers, who now posted their highest meet average at the Clash of Champions.

The Coaches Corner NSL Talk had to wait until after the 4-way Speed Round, as Mathieu Bernier competed with Weembi Lille. His team won the $12,000 for the 3rd place behind NMP PCH Hayabusa and Arizona Airspeed and was tied in 2nd place with the 59-pointer for the Super Sequence.

Solly Williams with the Golden Knights
Mathieu Bernier oversees the French 4-way Open, 4-way Women and 8-way national teams and is also in charge of the B-Teams and their development.

He is also in the French 8-way lineup that competed in Dubai and will try to challenge the Golden Knights for the 8-way gold medals next year at the Mondial 2016.

Mathieu Bernier is also the team coach for the French FLY-IN Girls, who have the challenging task to defend the French gold medals in 4-way Women.

His opposing coach in this event is Solly Williams, who has guided the Golden Knights to a new scoring and performance level within a year of his work with the team.

Solly Williams won his 4-way gold medal with DeLand Majik in 2004 and has been a popular and successful full-time coach ever since. The coaches and their teams are staying in Dubai for two more weeks, as the World Air Games are coming up after a 1-week break.
