Did You Know...

... that the Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies are the strongest US Rookie Class team of 2015?

November group at Skydive DeLand
posted Dec 23rd, 2015 - There were still several teams in Florida who were eager enough to add the annual NSL Championship to the late part of the 2015 schedule. In fact, the event was probably the last 4-way outdoor competition of the year.

The weather did not cooperate very much at all when the first attempt took place on the November 21 weekend, and it did not get much better at the re-scheduled date on the December 19 weekend. Clouds and rain did not allow the teams to complete more than two rounds in November, strong winds on Saturday and clouds on Sunday caused the same trouble in December.

However, there was enough competition in the A and Rookie categories to earn the medals and trophies even this year. ZeuS from Skydive City was able to complete three rounds on Saturday and took home the NSL Shugar Cup.

Best US Rookie Class team: Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies
Rookie Class team Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies (FBRD) from the Southern Skydiving League traveled to DeLand in November, after attending all three meets of their home league this year. The SSL team came to the NSL Championship as the highest scoring Rookie Class team in the United States this year.

Stephen Addison (Outside Center), Jeremy Rice (Point), Chris Webb (Tail) and Samuel Yates (Inside Center), with Alex Khaimenov on camera, confirmed their top position in the only two rounds of the meet. The 13-pointer in Round 2 was the new FBRD highscore for a single round, and the team was well on the way to a new record average, as well.

The Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies took the Rookie Class trophy proudly home to Skydive Alabama and are planning to move up into the A Class for the 2016 season.

Team ZeuS with the NSL Shugar Cup
Team ZeuS from Skydive City, Skydive Palatka team Bald + Beautiful and DeLand 3D had shown up to compete at the first attempt in November when only DeLand 3D was able to complete two rounds. Tail Jimmy Xu signed up for a new 2016 team in the meantime and 3D did not come back for the re-scheduled meet.

ZeuS had a different team member in the Tail slot. Former Zunday member Gary Fox was helping out, as Ryan Palmer moved to a different state earlier this year. ZeuS and Bald + Beautiful went neck to neck in the first two A Class rounds and were tied after Round 2. Skydive Palatka's home team was not able to complete Round 3, and ZeuS can show off the NSL Shugar Cup for one year at Skydive City.

Andrea Greening and Gilles Dutrisac, NSL 2014 champions with Foxtrot (Andrew Starr, James Hall), re-organized the team by joining forces with the unlimited Teiwaz lineup. Kenneth Gajda, former national team member in Denmark, who competed with the Prime Pickles at this year's national championships, completed the lineup, together with Kurt Gaebel. Teiwaz Foxtrot completed one round.
