Did You Know...

... that Meet Director Ben Liston took back the New Hampshire top spot seven years later?

Ben Liston with original Mass Defiance lineup
posted Jan 17th, 2016 - Original Mass Defiance member Ben Liston organized his indoor competition at SkyVenture New Hampshire for the 8th time this year, and it took place on January 9th.

Once again, he used his modified dive pool to create four competition categories with blocks and random formations that can be executed successfully in the 12-foor flying chamber, according to the skills and experience level of the participants.

It is also normal procedure at the New Hampshire competition that experienced 4-way competitors may sign up for more than only one team, which increases the number of participating teams and offers flyers on lower experience levels the opportunity to learn from the pros.

Bu Defiance in 2009
18 of the 28 AAA Class competitors had double duties, and Shmeland member James "Bu" Klinge was even competing in three different teams (Shmeland - Bu's Bitches - IDGAA).

It was a historic event for James Klinge this year. He had won each of the previous tunnel meets in New Hampshire since the inaugural event in 2009. Three of his original "Bu Defiance" team mates (Ben Liston, John Silva, Brian Stephens) now joined forces with Carolina Turbo XP member Nick Grillet (Cocked Nut) to dethrone “Bu” earlier this month.

Mass Defiance members in varying lineups had tried every year to get ahead of James Klinge's team Shmeland, which was formed for the 2nd New Hampshire event in 2010 (Sally Hathaway, Ari Perelman, Rodney Cruce). Ben Liston missed only Jim Rees of the original Mass Defiance lineup, who has been judging the indoor competition year after year.

Niklas Hemlin and Josh Hall at the Mondial Dubai 2012
Two of the ten AAA Class competitors who competed only with one lineup visited from the west coast. Josh Hall, Arizona Airspeed world champion of 2012, filled the open Dallas 350 slot for judge Jim Rees. His 2012 world champion team mate Niklas Hemlin was the player coach for Fallout.

Airspeed is currently trying to find the best solution to move on after the team parted with Chris Farina earlier this month. Josh Hall has been high on the list of potential substitutes, and the topic was probably also high on Niklas Hemlin's priority list in New Hampshire.

Josh Hall helped Dallas 350 to the 20.6 average in 3rd place. Niklas Hemlin finished 4th with Fallout. His own team started the January training after the indoor competition with Mikhail Markine in the point slot...
