Katrina Shows, Spaceland Lite member, joined the Indoor Cloud League with her iFLY Houston team in January. She added scores for two of the six categories (AA - A) with the same lineup and tested the new event at iFLY Houston.
The test was more than convincing, and she followed up with scores and videos for all six categories early in February. She had more participants and even more fun than before, and it is not yet the last word from iFLY Houston. Katrina Shows has scheduled a second ICL competition with her team later this month to improve the standing scores.
February 2016 | AAA | AA | A | RRR | RR | R | Total | |
Rank | Teams | E,14,O,16 | P,21,14 | E,O,6 | J,N,L | M,E,O | M,P | Total |
1 | iFLY SF Bay (US) | 18 | 14 | 15 | 21(-1) | 28 | 26 | 122 |
2 | iFLY Houston (US) | 17 | 16(-1) | 15 | 14 | 18 | 18 | 98 |
3 | SkyVenture New Hampshire (US) | 16 | 13 | 16 | - | - | - | 45 |
The AA Class lineup (Kati Matyka, Brian Menard, Jorge Alvarez, with player coach Katrina Shows) has the highscore of the month so far with a 16-pointer, and the same lineup ended up only one point behind iFLY SF Bay for the AAA Class sequence. In fact, iFLY Houston is one point ahead of iFLY SF Bay after the total for the three technical sequences (AAA - AA - A).
Erika Barczak, Kati Matyka, Diana Hu and Jorge Alvarez posted the 15-pointer for the A Class sequence, which is still owned by Brian Touhey's team at SkyVenture New Hampshire.
She had originally assigned Erika Barczak, Amber Taylor, Diana Hu and Debbie Hoffpauir to the Rookie Class sequences where they posted the two 18-pointers. However, she said that they were disappointed, as they were hoping to perform the A or AA sequences, and Katrina Shows cooperated with the new 4-way competitors: "How can you say no to them wanting to do more and exciting things..."
She added the A Class sequence to the agenda of the Rookie Class team, and they eventually tied the 15-pointer of the other A Class lineup (Erika Barczak, Kati Matyka, Diana Hu, Jorge Alvarez). The tie breaker turned out in favor of the originally assigned A Class lineup, and both teams ended up on the ICL leaderboard for iFLY Houston.
Katrina Shows said that she and her ICL team are treating the Indoor Cloud League events like an actual competition:
She said that it was once again a lot of fun, and everyone enjoyed the added learning experience. New scores from iFLY Houston will be posted later this month.
