Did You Know...

... that the 8-way competition at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship features special guests?

International Team White lineup
posted Mar 6th, 2016 - Saturday at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2016 ended with 8-way competition, and the 8-way teams are back in the flying chamber early on Sunday morning to complete their 10-round meet.

Most of the European visitors have to travel back to their different countries on Sunday and leave Raeford as soon as possible. Hosts Tim and John D'Annunzio accommodate the travel plans with the schedule. The 4-way field includes only one team from abroad, Savolo from South Africa, who actually deliver the best performance in team history. Savolo is also registered for the World Challenge 2016.

The Sun Path Products NSL News was exploring the field of 8-way teams before Saturday was over and found several 4-way and 8-way celebrities in the action area with the flying chamber when the 8-way competition was in full swing.

14-year old 8-way competitor Elisa Camproux
The most colorful 8-way lineup is also the best visiting one, which is called Team White this year. Damien Sorlin and Martial Ferre from France have been putting together their 8-way lineups year by year for the trip to Paraclete XP.

Damien Sorlin is a French 8-way world champion of 2006 and 2008. He and Martial Ferre together then won the 8-way gold medals for France in 2010. Martial Ferre is also a 4-way world champion of 1999. Damien Sorlin is still a member of the French 8-way team that will try to challenge the Golden Knights at the Mondial 2016 at Skydive Chicago.

Three German 4-way and 8-way competitors made the trip to Raeford this year and joined Team White: Petra Barenfanger, her husband Henning Stumpp and Uwe Soppa, who competed with Damien Sorlin and Martial Ferre last year, as well. Thunder ISR member Paul Hofstee is also a frequent visitor in Raeford and has brought a lot of his own 8-way experiences to the Thund8rbirds 8-way project. Seth Erickson is a former national team member from Sweden. Team White also has Nicolas David in the lineup, former member of the French national 8-way team.

Gary Smith (and Steve Lefkowitz) with the Qatar Falcons
Damien Sorlin introduced special members of another 8-way lineup to the Sun Path Products NSL News yesterday. Team Yellow has a father with his daughter in the lineup. Arnaud Camproux and his 14-year old daughter Elisa live in southern France and enjoy 8-way indoor competition together. Damien Sorlin said that they are also piece partners.

Several members of the Swiss national 8-way team VIVA, who placed 5th at the Mondial Dubai 2012, are competing at Paraclete, including Marcel Aeby. He is a 4-way world champion of 1983. Blue Magic was the Swiss national team in 1983 and won the FAI gold medals in South Africa.

Gary Smith, NMP PCH Hayabusa coach, is competing with his Qatar Falcons, after one of the 8-way team members had a car accident. He knew Marcel Aeby from his earlier days in Formation Skydiving competition and had a few words before his team entered the flying chamber.
