... that NSL-TV features the 1-point battle in 8-way at Paraclete?

League of their own: Golden Knights at Paraclete awards
posted Apr 12th, 2016 - The Sun Path Products NSL News goes back to the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2016, where an earlier story on March 22nd had covered the Golden Knights 8-way performance and included the videos of all ten meet rounds.

The Golden Knights were in a league of their own, as they keep waiting for a serious challenger in this event, which could only come from France. However, there was an extremely exciting 1-point battle for the 2nd place, which connected Golden Knights and the potentially opposing French 8-way team indirectly.

Team White was guided by Frenchmen Martial Ferre and Damien Sorlin, who have been visiting Paraclete XP for several years with 8-way lineups from France. Team White was an international lineup with experienced competitors from Germany (Petra Stumpp, Henning Stumpp, Uwe Soppa), Belgium (Paul Hofstee), Sweden (Seth Erickson) and France (Nicolas David).

Damien Sorlin and Martial Ferre at the World Meet 2010
Martial Ferre and Damien Sorlin were team mates when the French national 8-way team won the gold medals at the World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk and held back the new Golden Knights lineup in 2nd place.

Damien Sorlin is now back in the French national 8-way lineup, which is supposed to challenge the Golden Knights at the Mondial 2016 at Skydive Chicago in September. He was not in the active lineup of 2012 and 2014 when the Golden Knights won the gold medals. National coach Mathieu Bernier, who is also competing in the new French 8-way lineup, asked Damien Sorlin to come back when his brother Guillaume Bernier did not commit to the 2016 project.

Damien Sorlin had once again the opportunity to take a good look at the Golden Knights after their last 8-way showdown at the Clash of Champions 2015, while he was player coaching the international Team White lineup.

1-point battle: Qatar Falcons at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship
The Qatar Falcons had competed with Golden Knights and the French 8-way team at the Clash of Champions, as well. Both teams could not maintain the scoring level of Dubai, where an 8-way Super Sequence in Round 10 boosted the averages.

Team White controlled the battle with the Qatar Falcons throughout the first four rounds and was up by eight points before Qatar coach Gary Smith ordered his team to pick up the pace.

Round by round and point by point the Falcons caught up until the White lead had shrunk to one single point after Round 9. Qatar's national 8-way team then carried the momentum into Round 10 and turned the 1-point deficit into a final 1-point advantage.

Team White's Martial Ferre and Paul Hofstee then switched back to 4-way after the Paraclete meet and competed again in Bedford at the World Challenge 2016, where they split to join their own 4-way teams, Paul Hofstee with Thunder ISR and Martial Ferre with Tenanine. The Falcons got a break, and the Tigers competed for Qatar at the Shamrock Showdown and the World Challenge.
