Did You Know...

... that Satori has a new lineup?

Awards at the UK Nationals 2008
posted Jan 5th, 2009 - The NSL News reported on 19 January 2009 that Bodyflight Storm does not have any plans for the 2009 season.

The reigning 4-way world champion in the female category is also the British 4-way champion of the Open Class at the same time. The NSL News covered the race for the top spot in the United Kingdom between Storm and Satori last year with several stories.

The NSL News reported already on 13 November 2008 (Archives > 2008 > News > Search for "Satori") that UK's runner up of 2008 has a new Center Inside. Former XL member Lee Love replaces Liz Matthews who is expecting a baby this year. Julia Foxwell (Center Outside), Katie Woods (Point) and Aaron Faith (Tail) continue in their original slots. Dave Butterel is filming the team this year.

Bodyflight Storm's hibernating or disbanding puts Satori's new lineup on the top spot of the AAA Class teams that will compete in the United Kingdom this year. Satori had already made plans for the 2009 season long before Storm decided whether to continue or not. The team is already in full training swing and will be prepared to take over the top spot in the United Kingdom.

Team speaker Katie Woods informed the NSL News how the training with new Satori member Lee Love has been going. She also provided video footage of a training jump where the new Center Inside controls the pace of a fast sequence with only random formations.

Satori at the World Challenge 2008
Katie Woods said that the first camp in Seville, Spain, went well: "There was some bad weather, but we still got 64 jumps in which wasn't too bad." The first training camp began with a complete set of competition jumps through the whole dive pool to determine the starting performance level.

The 17-point average in Spain brought Satori already back to the performance and scoring level of 2008. Katie Woods said that several block techniques feel already better than last year. She thinks that these improvements are a result of Satori's windtunnel training at Bodyflight Bedford in the winter.

Satori will compete at the World Challenge 2009, and the first scores of the 2009 season will show where the new lineup picks up last year's momentum. Last year's Satori lineup opened the 2008 season in Bedford with an impressive 22.9 average, which won the 8th place and was the highest score of a complete British team, including Bodyflight Storm. It's a high benchmark and a great challenge for the new Satori engine. The NSL News will follow the competition action in Bedford live on site.
