Did You Know...

... that two iFLY Houston teams tested the new tie-breaking rule?

iFLY Houston's Indoor Cloud League team in June
posted Jun 19th, 2016 - iFLY Houston is the fourth wind tunnel group that submitted scores for the new June sequences. Once again, the Indoor Cloud League team from Texas performed sequences for both flying chamber sizes and misses only a scoring number for the 12-foot AA Class sequence (F,9,21) after scoring on both leaderboards first time in May.

iFLY Houston's team joined the Indoor Cloud League at the beginning of this year and started with a group of tunnel flyers who wanted to learn more about 4-way competition. Spaceland Lite members Katrina and Devon Shows provided the guidance, and Dallas 350 member Scott Latinis supported the ICL team work at iFLY Houston.

Half a year later, most of the participants have formed their consistent lineups and compete under their own team names, as the internal iFLY Houston leaderboard is showing, while new participants join the ICL events.

Miguel Zapata and Mary Armintor are the latest new ICL competitors at iFLY Houston. They have formed the Stormtroopers, together with Diana Hu, and Katrina Shows is the player coach.

Kiya Glave is the youngest 4-way competitor in iFLY Houston's ICL team and continues to expand her skills with flying more challenging slots and blocks. She is a member of Blobfish, which shows clearly on her own personal yellow Blobfish helmet.

Katrina Shows reported from iFLY Houston's first June event that there was a very tight competition in the AA Class. Two of the teams were in a tie after scoring 12 points in exactly the same time (34.48 seconds). The special situation challenged the new tie-breaking rules, as one of the two teams scored the 12th point after an earlier point deduction. 4 Shades of Grey eventually pulled it off with the team's final attempt at the AA Class sequence for the 14-foot chamber (F,21,8) by scoring the same 12-pointer a second faster.

Most improved individual: Kiya Glave with Blobfish
Not only was the 14-footer AA Class sequence contended. Three teams also tried to get on the Indoor Cloud League leaderboard for June in the A Class (4 Shades of Grey, Team 24, Blobfish), and 4 Shades of Grey won the second spot for the June sequences.

The iFLY Houston team has awards for their own ICL events, as well, which go the overall winners of a month in the Rookie Class sequences (RRR/RR/R) and the other three categories (AAA/AA/A). Team Babes On Our Bellies (Boobs) was the recent Rookie Class winner and received a 5-minute gift voucher by iFly Houston.

The second award goes to the most improved team after attending both monthly ICL events at iFLY Houston. 4 Shades of Grey won by turning a 12-pointer in the AA Class to the final 18-pointer. Blobfish's 4-way junior Kiya Glave won the same prize for the individual category with a 9-point increase.
