Did You Know...

... that several teams posted outdoor record averages last weekend?

Windy conditions again in the Northern Plains
posted Jun 27th, 2016 - Last weekend's outdoor leaderboard is complete, as well. Teams competed at three different locations, and two of the meets completed all six rounds.

The Northern Plains Skydiving League had once again little luck with the weather. The 2016 season opener was completely weathered out, and the June meet did not get too far either. NPSL Director Al BeVier was not too happy after the second unfortunate attempt this year, when he communicated the situation at Skydive Twin City with the other two meet locations: "Second NPSL meet of the year called for weather - winds again. Steady in the twenties and gusting regularly into the mid-thirties, all from the worst direction for this DZ. Even the tandems were grounded..."

However, his efforts in sharing the scores live on-line with the teams at the other meets was still a highlight: "It really does add some fun to the meet, and it looks like Southern and Texas had a good time. See you next time."

New outdoor record average: Spaceland Lite
The teams at this year's Texas Shootout did have a good time, and they posted good scores.

The meet was Spaceland Lite's first outdoor competition with the new lineup. The Sun Path Products NSL News had introduced Lite's 2016 roster on March 30th after the first indoor competition at Paraclete XP.

In fact, it could not have been a much better start for the new Spaceland Lite. The 14.8 starting point is the highest meet average in the team's 6-year history, and the competition draw for the 6-round meet did not support high scores. The draw included 12 blocks and four slot-switching sequences. Only Round 3 brought some relief, and Spaceland Lite took advantage of the sequence with four random formations.

Indoor to outdoor: BOOBs
The AA Class competition was the most popular category last weekend. 4 Shades of Gray copied the Spaceland Lite show and finished in the top spot with a new team record average.

The Texas team has trained intensively and posted several Indoor Cloud League scores at iFLY Houston with player coach Scott Latinis, who gave his slot back to the complete lineup for the outdoor competition.

The Babes on Our Bellies (BOOBs) have been attending several ICL events together with 4 Shades of Gray at iFLY Houston. In fact, the team members met at the events and eventually formed the BOOBs after flying together in different lineups. The first outdoor competition gave them an exciting 6-round battle with Screaming 4gasms, who came back a year after the Texas Shootout 2015. BOOBS won this internal race and then even posted the AA Class highscore for Round 6.

Rookie Class in 2013: NPSL team 3-Ring Circus
3-Ring Circus was the only team in the A Class last weekend. The NPSL team had started in the Rookie Class of 2013 and moved up into the A Class last year. The 5.0 average is a new team record of all Rookie and A Class meets in the past, even though the two rounds included three of the eight A Class blocks.

The Rookie Class leaderboard finally featured teams from all three leagues, and the Bamaboys of the Southern Skydiving League won with a 6.5 average after a 5.2 average at the SSL May meet.

The 6.5 average is the highest Rookie Class outdoor average of the 2016 season. Only the British team RAFSPA Raptor posted the same average at the UKSL May meet.
