posted Aug 28th, 2016 - The Sun Path Products NSL News reported on August 22nd that the ten rounds of the UK Nationals 2016 could not be completed on the August 20 weekend.

However, the British national championships have always two weekends scheduled for the 4-way competition, and the second one has been used whenever the first weekend did not allow the completion of all scheduled rounds. This year, the teams had to come back a week later to add the missing scores.

It creates an interesting situation, as the competition draw for the missing rounds on the first weekend cannot be used again. Teams would be able to train the exact sequences either in the British wind tunnels, or even outdoors, if the same draw applied on the following weekend.

On the other hand, the scores for the completed rounds are registered, and the same numbers and letters for blocks and random formations cannot be recycled.

For teams and competitors in all four categories this means that the dive pool for the missing rounds is reduced to a certain amount, and they also know which blocks and random formations will not appear again on the second meet weekend.

Not all teams are always coming back to complete the meet. This year, a total of 18 teams skipped the second part, while 38 teams performed all rounds in the respective categories.

Two teams even gave up their medal chances after the results on the first weekend. AA Class team Vanilla Sky was one point behind the bronze medal position after Round 5 and did not try to challenge Tyrano4them Rex in the remaining three rounds.

Rookie Class team Fourgasm was even in 2nd place after Round 5 and did not come back after scoring the highest number of the meet in Round 4.

The second weekend of the UK Nationals is also the time for the 8-way competition, with ten scheduled rounds. The 8-way teams started their own competition while the 4-way teams were wrapping up their 10-round meet. The Sun Path Products NSL News will follow up with the 8-way scores later.

No extra rounds were necessary this year in the United Kingdom, even though there were close races for the medals. AA Class teams Tyrano4them Rex and Kesshin were tied going into the last round of the meet, and Tyrano4them Rex' first and only highscore of the meet in Round 8 won the bronze medals.

Colostomy and Viento 99 finished after a 1-point battle for the gold medals in the A Class.

Two AAA Class teams were actually tied after ten rounds; however, they finished right behind the medal positions and did not need the 11th round. Eclipse confirmed once again the team's ongoing progression and finished with a new team record average, after a great battle with the British national team in 4-way Women, NFTO. Eclipse even managed to tie one of Satori XL's highscores in Round 5...
