Did You Know...

... that the Golden Knights had a happy end in 4-way Women?

Duel since 2011: Golden Knights vs. French Girls
posted Sep 18th, 2016 - The aftermath of the Mondial 2016 continues with a new NSL Talk video clip, which was recorded after the completion of all Formation Skydiving competition events.

The Sun Path Products NSL News has followed the duel for gold medals in 4-way Women between the French national teams and the Golden Knights from the very beginning, which was the FAI World Cup 2011, where the Golden Knights started with a 15.3 average.

The lineup of the U.S. Army team (Jennifer Davidson, Laura Davis, Angela Nichols, Dannielle Woosley, with Scott Janise on camera) has been the same ever since this first competition, with one exception. It is almost ironical that the Golden Knights finally outscored France at the only top event where one original team member was missing. The Golden Knights themselves see it as a little miracle that they came out on top with JaNette Lefkowitz stepping in just a few months before the final showdown.

Gold medals at FAI Mondial 2016: Golden Knights
The time between Angela Nichols-Navarro stepping back and Round 1 at the world meet was just enough for the team and coach Solly Williams to get enough training with the world class substitute, who has actually been on a higher performance level with her own team, SDC Rhythm XP.

It was a great battle, which lasted through the very last round, even though the final leaderboard does not reflect the drama of Round 10. The Golden Knights had a 4-point lead going into the last round of the meet and seemed to be the winner after a very strong and consistent performance.

The Mondial lineup of the U.S. Army team had given away only one single round (4), due to two penalties and a very strong French round. The only lost round allowed the French Girls to catch up, and Round 5 was a fresh start for both teams.

Round 10 presented a very similar situation, even though the Golden Knights had a 4-point advantage. The U.S. team stumbled and lost two additional points in the judging room. The 17-
pointer offered the French Girls a much unexpected opportunity at this point in time, and they seemed to use it.

It was a great start into the Round 10 sequence, and the French Girls had 14 points after 24 seconds. The remaining 11 seconds at the bottom half of the working time could have brought the final score to the 20+ area, where a 21-pointer would have tied the Golden Knights total.

Then disaster struck the French Girls at the worst time. Tail Sophia Pecout injured her shoulder during the inter of Block 13 and separated for safety reasons. She had to pull the reserve handle for the opening. The last 11 seconds of the working time went ticking by without additional scoring points, and the Golden Knights won by a total of seven points after ten rounds. It was an unfortunate end for the French Girls and a happy end for the Golden Knights...
